The much-awaited teaser of Awarapan 2 has finally been unveiled, bringing back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam nearly 19 years after the release of the original film. Released on the anniversary of the 2007 cult classic, the teaser offers a glimpse into the emotional and action-packed journey awaiting fans in the sequel.

The teaser opens with Shivam revisiting the grave of Aaliyah, the character portrayed by Shriya Saran in the first film. Emraan’s character reflects on his long association with pain, setting a sombre and emotional tone for the sequel. Dark visuals, intense narration and flashes of action hint at an unfinished story that continues years later.

Teaser blends nostalgia with a fresh chapter

The teaser heavily leans on nostalgia, featuring a reprised version of the popular track Toh Phir Aao, a song that remains closely associated with the original film. The emotional background score, coupled with Shivam’s return, has already generated excitement among fans.

Apart from Emraan Hashmi, the sequel also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles. Both actors make brief appearances in the teaser, hinting at their significance in the new storyline.

Sharing the teaser, the makers wrote that the long wait for Shivam’s return has finally ended, acknowledging the fan support that kept the story alive over the years.

The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri and released in 2007, did not perform strongly at the box office initially but gradually attained cult status, largely due to its music and emotional storytelling. The sequel, produced by Vishesh Films and directed by Nitin Kakkar, is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, 2026.

Canada edge South Africa with stoppage-time winner to reach World Cup last 16

Canada advanced to the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after Stephen Eustaquio scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal in a 1-0 win over South Africa.

Canada booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 after Stephen Eustaquio scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over South Africa in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Round of 32 encounter appeared destined for extra time as both sides struggled to create clear-cut opportunities in a tense contest. However, Eustaquio produced the decisive moment in the second minute of added time, firing home from the edge of the area to send the co-host nation through to the next stage.

Canada, playing in front of a passionate crowd, enjoyed much of the possession but found South Africa difficult to break down. Their best opening in the first half was cleared off the line, while a penalty appeal involving Richie Laryea was waved away after a VAR review.

South Africa defended resolutely throughout the match and looked set to take the contest into extra time. Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and the backline frustrated the Canadians for long periods, but they were ultimately undone by Eustaquio’s late strike.

Canada were also boosted by the return of captain Alphonso Davies, who made his comeback from injury as a second-half substitute. The victory marks the first time Canada have progressed beyond the opening knockout round at a FIFA World Cup.

The co-hosts will now face either the Netherlands or Morocco in the Round of 16 on July 4, while South Africa’s campaign comes to an end despite their historic run to the knockout stage.
