Breakfast is one of the most important meals which you can’t afford to miss at any cost. Gone are the days when you could just walk into your office canteen and order your favourite breakfast and coffee whenever you wanted. Work from home has doubled the responsibilities of those who have to cook as well as have to meet the deadlines.

To make sure you don’t get stuck between completing deadlines and preparing for breakfast, we’ve got you covered with easy, quick and healthy recipes to supercharge your morning.

  1. Masala French Toast
    In a shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, ground spices, green chili, and cilantro. Preheat the pan and add butter and oil to coat the pan. Then dip a slice of bread into the egg and milk mixture, then transfer to the heated pan. Cook each side for a couple of minutes until golden brown. Serve hot with green chutney and ketchup.
  • 2. Sooji Cheela
  • In a mixing bowl add semolina and milk and whisk well. Keep the mixture aside for 10-15 minutes and add ingredients such as onion, capsicum, grated carrot, green chilli, paneer and grounded spices as per your requirement. Then heat a non-stick pan, grease it with oil and pour the batter in it. Cook both sides till golden. Serve hot with ketchup and green chutney.
  • 3. Chickpea Salad
  • In a large bowl, toss together chickpeas, cucumber, bell pepper, red onion, olives, and feta. Season with salt and pepper. In a jar fitted with a lid, combine olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, parsley, and red pepper flakes. Close the jar and shake until emulsified, then season with salt and pepper. Dress salad with vinaigrette just before serving.
  • 4. Rava Upma
  • Heat a Kadai/pan and dry roast rava in medium flame until a roasted smell of Rava wafts. Add green chillies, onion and fry till transparent without changing its colour. Pour in water and salt, bring it to boil. Add the roasted rava in a sprinkled way as well as stirring side by side. Mix well, it will soon become thick absorbing water. Cook covered bringing the flame to low. The upma is ready after 5-6 minutes.
  • 5. Uttapam
  • Buy the readymade batter from the grocery store. Add salt (if not added before) and water, mix it well. Heat the non-stick tawa over medium flame and add a few drops of oil and spread it using a halved potato or a halved small onion. When tawa is ready, pour one laddle batter and spread it in round shape by gently rotating the ladle in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons finely chopped onion, finely chopped capsicum, green chillies, tomato over it. Cook for approx.2-3 minutes until bottom surface turns light golden brown. Flip it gently and cook another side for a minute or until the bottom surface looks cooked. Serve it hot with coconut chutney or tomato onion chutney.
