Yogi Adityanath and Asaduddin Owaisi

Amid the controversy over Muslim women’s headscarves, the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has started a new discussion claiming that a woman wearing a Hijab will one day become the Prime Minister of India.

His statement comes before the second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.

On Sunday, Owaisi tweeted a video in which he said that women wearing hijabs will go to college, become district collectors, magistrates, doctors, businesswomen and so on.

In a 43-second video of his address in an election rally, Owaisi can be heard saying that he might not be alive to see it, but mark his words, one day a hijab-wearing girl will be the Prime Minister of India. If Muslim daughters decide and tell their parents they want to wear hijabs, their parents will support them. Let’s see who can stop them!, he said.

Showing his interest in the matter on the day of second-phase polling in Uttar Pradesh, the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the new India will function according to the Constitution, not by Shariya law and the dream of Ghazva-e-Hind (ultimate conquest of India) will never come true. Giving clarification to his 80 versus 20 remarks, he said that the comment was meant to differentiate between those who back progress and those who oppose everything.

Last week, a hijab row had been intensified after a group of Muslim students were barred from entering their college on account of wearing hijabs. Following which the girls staged a protest outside the college gate. In response to the protest led by Muslim hijab-wearing girls, the youngsters took to the streets of Karnataka wearing saffron scarves and marched against the hijab.

With the protests taking a violent turn at some places earlier this week, the state government on Tuesday declared a three-day holiday for the institutions. However, it was started from Uddupi but later expanded to almost all the schools and colleges of the BJP-ruled state.

The hijab row was started in Karnataka in December-end when a few students of a government pre-university college in Udupi, attending classes in headscarves, were asked to leave the campus.

North Pakistan had issued a terror threat against the West Indies, who are co-hosting the T20 World Cup today, May 6. However, West Indies (CWI) assured the public that every safety measure has been done.

The Caribbean islands have received warnings about possible terror threats coming from North Pakistan, according to a trustworthy source with firsthand knowledge of the circumstances. From June 1 to June 29, the US and the West Indies will host the T20 World Cup.

World Cup matches in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago will take place in the West Indies. In addition, there are matches in the US cities of Florida, New York, and Texas; however, there appears to be no danger to the games in the US. Barbados will host the final after the two semifinals are held in Trinidad and Guyana.

A source said that they are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with relevant authorities. Continuous evaluation of security measures is underway to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any identified risks, they added.

The severity of the problem has increased with the assignment of blame for the danger to IS Khorasan. Trinidad Prime Minister Keith Rowley said that security forces have protocols in place to handle any threats to matches.

As per the report, the Barbados regional security officials are monitoring potential threats to the ICC event in addition to the fact that intelligence of a potential threat to the World Cup has been received through Pro-Islamic State (Daesh) through the media group Nashir Pakistan.

Regarding India, the Men in Blue will face off against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York in their season-opening match. On June 9, they will play their next game at the same location against their bitter rivals, Pakistan. The team captained by Rohit Sharma will play the United States in their subsequent game in New York, and then they will play Canada in their last group-stage encounter at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
