Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is one of the most outspoken celebrities and keeps hogging headlines for his controversial statements on Twitter. Currently, the filmmaker has indulged himself in slamming Bollywood for remaking South films.

Ram Gopal Varma took to Twitter and wrote that Telugu and Kannada films have infected Hindi films like Covid-19 and he hopes that Bollywood fines its vaccine. He recently slammed Shahid Kapoor-Mrunal Thakur starrer and called it a disastrous fate.

The debate on social media started after the release of the Telugu remake film Jersey. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, and Pankaj Kapoor in the lead roles and failed to impress the audience at the box-office. Referring to this, Ram Gopal Varma also slammed the makers of the Hindi remake of Jersey and said that if Nani’s orginial Jersey would have been dubbed and released it would have costed just Rs 10 lakhs whereas the Hindi remake is worth Rs 100 crore. The producers have lost enoromous money, effort, time, and faces, the filmmaker tweeted.

Jersey hit theatres on April 22. The plot of the film revolves around a cricketer who decides to revive his career in cricket at the age of 36 for his son’s dream of a jersey. The original film starred Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles and also featured Harish Kalyan, Sampath Raj, Sathyaraj, Sanusha, and Viswant Duddumpudi in important roles.

The sports drama is struggling at the box office, with just over Rs 20 crore in the bank worldwide after days of its release. Shahid’s previous film, Kabir Singh, was the Hindi remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, which collected nearly Rs 400 crore worldwide.

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in several Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role in the 2007 comedy Welcome, has died at the age of 56.

Khan was known for playing supporting characters across Hindi cinema and had worked in films spanning several decades. His role as Balu in Welcome remains among his best-known performances.

Mushtaq Khan’s film career

Mushtaq Khan appeared in a wide range of films during his career. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gopi Kishan, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jodi No. 1 and Hera Pheri.

He also featured in more recent films including Stree 2, Gadar 2, Baby John, Dhoom Dhaam and Jaat. His filmography lists acting work continuing into 2026.

In Welcome, Khan played Balu, a supporting character in the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and other prominent actors.

Khan’s career also included television work, with his credits spanning a wide range of acting roles over the years.

Mushtaq Khan dies at 56

The actor’s death was reported on September 24, 2026. Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with liver cancer and had been hospitalised for around 15 days. Further details surrounding his death were awaited in the initial reports.

The newborn is the couple’s second daughter. Deepika and Ranveer became parents for the first time in September 2024, when they welcomed their daughter Dua.

The couple has not announced the name of their newborn daughter in the post.

Just a day before the announcement, Deepika Padukone visited Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple with Ranveer Singh and his parents.
