Filmmaker Karan Johar responds that it is exceptionally poor taste when a comedian mimics him on a TV show. The filmmaker criticised the comedian in a message he posted on Instagram Stories. Additionally, he said that he expects this kind of behavior from trolls but not from those working in the film industry.

Karan Johar revealed how he encountered this comedian’s performance. He said that he was watching TV with his mother when he noticed an imitation of him in a reality show promo that was on a respected channel.

However, comedian Kettan Singh responded to the story and apologized to the director, despite Karan Johar not mentioning the show’s title. KJo was referring to the comedy show Madness Machayenge—India Ko Hasayenge, whose recent episode was called Bollywood Meri Jaan. Actor Kettan Singh was portraying Karan Johar.

The Kuch Kuch Hota Hota Hai director wrote, He was sitting and watching television with his mom when he saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel. A comedian was mimicking him in exceptionally poor taste. Karan said, he expects this from trolls and faceless and nameless people but when people who are in industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years it speaks volumes about the times they live in. This doesn’t even anger him it just makes him sad, the note added.

Ektaa Kapoor also came in support of Karan, and criticised these comedians for their ugly humour.

Re-sharing Karan’s post, Ekta said, happened so many times. Sometimes, shows and even award ceremonies have offensive humour. And then they expect you to attend, she added. Karan, please ask them to imitate one movie or classic of yours, Ekta wrote.

Comedian Kettan Singh responded to Johar’s remarks by saying he was sorry to the director. He clarified that being a fan of Johar’s work and seeing him on talk shows served as the inspiration for his mimicry of the actor.
