Team India captain Rohit Sharma who will be seen donning the blue jersey after a while now will be rested for the India vs West Indies One Day Internationals as well. This will be the third bilateral series in a year that the regular captain of India will be missing.

As soon as the BCCI made an official announcement over the Indian squad for the West Indies ODI series, tweeple lost their cool and questioned the team management for such outrageous decision.

What made people even more angry was the fact that not only senior players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and skipper Rohit Sharma will be rested for the ODI series but also the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the men in blue against West Indies.

Shikhar will be the seventh captain to lead Team India in the last eight months. Ever since Head coach Rahul Dravid has taken over the Indian coaching, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have led the Indian side in various tours.

This neither gives a correct message on the International level and also exposes the lack of leadership in the Indian camp for other teams to take advantage of. Moreover, it seems like former cricketer are also not happy with the team management and Rohit Sharma’s decision for resting for the India vs West Indies ODI series.

Irfan Pathan, the former cricketer and current commentator also took to his Twitter handle and posted a message saying that ‘No one comes back to form while resting.’ Even former cricketer Waseem Jaffer also liked Pathan’s tweet. Indian cricket fans also seem upset over Rohit’s lack of dedication in leading team India in several bilateral series.

Ever since Virat Kohli had stepped down from the Indian captaincy in all formats of the game, KL Rahul had led men in blue for South Africa ODI series, then, Rishabh Pant handled the leadership for the South Africa T20 series. Hardik Pandya took over the captaincy in India tour of Ireland.

Finally it was Jasprit Bumrah who led the Indian side in the decider match against England and now Shikhar Dhawan is gearing up for taking over the captaincy in IND vs WI ODI series. Does Virat Kohli has no successor or is Rohit Sharma too old to lead India in every match. However, BCCI has great thinking to do right now and all the fingers are pointing at the new head coach Rahul Dravid to come up with better plans and team combinations.

Preity Zinta praises Rohit Sharma, calls him powerhouse of talent

Published

on

Just over two weeks after Preity Zinta denied rumors that she wanted Rohit Sharma to lead the Punjab Kings, the owner of PBKS took to social media platform X to praise the former Mumbai Indians captain. Zinta answered questions from her fans and described Rohit as a powerhouse of talent, suggesting that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to nominate him as PBKS leader in the future.

However, for the Hitman, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 hasn’t gone as expected. The Mumbai Indians are virtually out of the playoff race, which means that Rohit’s squad will likely be eliminated early. This season, some MI players have failed, and even Rohit’s performances haven’t been enough to improve the team’s morale. Even though Rohit is clearly going through difficult circumstances, Bollywood actor and co-owner of the Punjab Kings Preity Zinta had nothing but love for him.

With just three wins in their last eleven matches, the Mumbai Indians are currently in the bottom of the points table and their only option is to move up the standings when they win against Sunrisers Hyderabad today.

Hardik Pandya’s team has lost eight of their 11 games this season, so far, making it seem nearly impossible for them to have things their way given how their campaign has started out. In the majority of their games, they have been unable to put up a cohesive performance and have lost games despite dominating one area of the game.

The Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the other two of the original eight clubs that have never claimed an IPL championship, along with Zinta’s PBKS. In 16 years have PBKS made only twice to the Playoffs; their best performance came in 2015, when they were runner-up to Kolkata Knight Riders. Even though it can be excruciatingly difficult to wait for an elusive IPL victory, Zinta manages to remain positive.

T20 World Cup: Co-host West Indies receives terror threat from Pakistan

Cricket West Indies (CWI) CEO Jonny Graves said that the safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is their number one priority.

North Pakistan had issued a terror threat against the West Indies, who are co-hosting the T20 World Cup today, May 6. However, West Indies (CWI) assured the public that every safety measure has been done.

The Caribbean islands have received warnings about possible terror threats coming from North Pakistan, according to a trustworthy source with firsthand knowledge of the circumstances. From June 1 to June 29, the US and the West Indies will host the T20 World Cup.

World Cup matches in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago will take place in the West Indies. In addition, there are matches in the US cities of Florida, New York, and Texas; however, there appears to be no danger to the games in the US. Barbados will host the final after the two semifinals are held in Trinidad and Guyana.

A source said that they are closely monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with relevant authorities. Continuous evaluation of security measures is underway to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any identified risks, they added.

The severity of the problem has increased with the assignment of blame for the danger to IS Khorasan. Trinidad Prime Minister Keith Rowley said that security forces have protocols in place to handle any threats to matches.

As per the report, the Barbados regional security officials are monitoring potential threats to the ICC event in addition to the fact that intelligence of a potential threat to the World Cup has been received through Pro-Islamic State (Daesh) through the media group Nashir Pakistan.

Regarding India, the Men in Blue will face off against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York in their season-opening match. On June 9, they will play their next game at the same location against their bitter rivals, Pakistan. The team captained by Rohit Sharma will play the United States in their subsequent game in New York, and then they will play Canada in their last group-stage encounter at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
