Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin actor Uttara Baokar dies at 79

She is known for films such as The Burning Season, Rukmavati Ki Haveli, Sardari Begum, Kora Kaagaz, Aaja Nachle, Ek Din Achanak, and Thakshak among others.

Actor Uttara Baokar

Veteran actor Uttara Baokar, known for playing the role of Bebe in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, passed away in Pune at the age of 79. The National Award-winning actor breathed her last at a hospital on Tuesday. The theatre artist died after battling a prolonged illness.

The actor had a spectacular career of nearly five decades. She rose to the limelight after her role in Govind Nihalani’s film Tamas. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Ek Din Achanak in 1988. Apart from this, she was also a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting (Hindi theatre).

She is known for films such as The Burning Season, Rukmavati Ki Haveli, Sardari Begum, Kora Kaagaz, Aaja Nachle, Ek Din Achanak, and Thakshak among others.

Actor Manoj Joshi took to his Twitter to express condolences to the veteran actor. He tweeted, Demise of Uttara Baokar Ji is an irreparable loss to Indian Film Industry. Deeply pained by her demise.

Uttara Baokar was also a popular face in the theatrical scene and did several noteworthy plays such as Mukyhamantri, Mena Gurjari, and Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq. She was known for her stupendous performance in plays such as Umrao Jaan where she played the lead role. She was trained in NSD.

She has appeared in popular TV shows like Udaan, Antaral, X Zone, Rishtey Kora Kaagaz, Nazarana, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, Kashmakash Zindagi Ki and Jabb Love Hua.

Madgaon Express starring Kunal Kemmu now available on Prime Video

Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut Madgaon Express, is now available for free streaming on OTT platform Prime Video. The film was initially released in theatres on March 22, 2024, and garnered positive reviews from critics. After its theatrical run, the film raked in a substantial sum of Rs 44.5 crore across the globe. Madgaon Express features a stellar cast that including Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Divyendu, Nora Fatehi and Chhaya Kadam in key roles.

The streaming platform Prime Video shared on Instagram that the Goa trip film has been released, alongside a poster with the caption that says #MadgaonExpressOnPrime, watch now.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the plot of the film revolves around childhood friends Dodo, Ayush, and Pinku planning an exciting trip to Goa, but their adventure quickly is derailed due to a series of unfortunate decisions and what was supposed to be a fun getaway, turns into a chaotic journey.

Kunal Kemmu expressed his joy, stating that each member of the cast has given their best to ensure that viewers gain an enjoyable experience while watching the hilarious shenanigans of the three main characters. He also stated his excitement about the opportunity for a broader, international audience to enjoy his passion project on Prime Video as the film will be available for streaming in more than 240 countries.

The Golmaal Again actor previously mentioned his intentions to work on a sequel to Madgaon Express. He expressed the need to begin writing for it but stressed that it would only be meaningful if the storyline matched or surpassed the humour of the original film. The actor-filmmaker elaborated that while there were no initial expectations for the first film, its success now requires him to meet higher expectations in the sequel.

According to reports, Kunal is said to be appearing in the sequel of Go Goa Gone in the future. However, the actor stated that he hasn’t received any confirmation yet. Prior to Madgaon Express, the actor was last seen in the family comedy film Kanjoos Makhichoos, which was released in 2023.

Director Kabir Khan said in a social media post to praise actor Kartik Aaryan’s dedication for his upcoming film Chandu Champion. Khan revealed Aaryan’s impressive physical transformation, showcasing the actor’s commitment to portraying a real-life athlete.

In his post, Khan highlighted the film’s inspirational true story, but went on to emphasize Aaryan’s own journey as equally inspiring. Khan shared that when he first approached the Satyaprem Ki Katha actor for the role, the actor had a significantly higher body fat percentage due to a previous role. Over the course of the course of a year and a half, the actor shed a significant amount of weight, reducing his body fat percentage from 39% to a remarkable 7%. Notably, the Chak De India director emphasized that this feat was achieved entirely naturally, without the use of steroids—a point Kartik Aaryan himself was particularly adamant about.

The social media post was accompanied by a photo showcasing Aaryan’s great physique, a stark contrast to his previous appearance. Khan concluded by expressing his pride in Aaryan’s dedication and hard work.

The Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor himself re-shared Khan’s post, calling it his biggest reward and expressing gratitude to the director for his motivation and support throughout the challenging transformation process.

Aaryan’s dedication has garnered significant attention online, with fans praising his commitment to the role. The dramatic transformation has also heightened anticipation for Chandu Champion, promising a powerful performance from the actor.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency postponed due to Lok Sabha elections

Ranaut is contesting from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, and has filed her nomination on May 14.

Actor turned producer Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency has been postponed due to the Lok Sabha Elections. The film directed by the actor herself was scheduled to release on June 14. 

Taking to Instagram, Kangana Ranaut’s production house Manikarnika Films, announced that the release date of Emergency has been postponed as the actor-director-producer wants to priortise her duty to the nation and commitment to the country. Ranaut is contesting from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, and has filed her nomination on May 14.

In the film, the actor plays the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film written by Ritesh Shah, is based on the political period, when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared Emergency. Beside Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman and Satish Kaushik in major roles.

Actor, director and producer of the film, Kangana Ranaut has also shared the news on her Instagram handle. This is not the first time that the film has been postponed. Earlier, the film was scheduled to release in October-November 2023. The postponement of the much awaited film has disappointed the audience, but some also acknowledged the actor’s commitment to her political goals. 

A social media user wrote on Instagram that the actor is running away from another embarrassment. He added that Kangana Ranaut will be defeated in the election and the film will be a major flop. Some also opined that continuous postponement may affect the film’s business. Meanwhile, some film enthusiasts, who have been waiting for the release, have requested for the teaser of the film. 

Kangana Ranaut was last seen in Tejas, where she played the role of an Indian Air Force pilot. She also featured in Queen, Tanu weds Manu, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi among others. On the political front, she is contesting the Lok Sabha election for the first time as a BJP candidate.
