Censor board cuts in Rangeela Raja irritate Pahlaj Nihalani, wants CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi sacked

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), commonly known simply as ‘Censor board’, keeps its eyes over the contents of the movie and it makes sure that none of the movie should have any vulgarity and the facts must not hurt any religious sentiments. But this time Pahlaj Nihalani’s film is on CBFC’s target and the cuts made in his movie are irritating him.

Former censor board chief and filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani is so much annoyed by the cuts that he moved the Bombay High Court against CBFC after the certification body ordered 20 cuts in his soon-to-release production venture Rangeela Raja. Nihalani said that the suggestions of the CBFC are unjustified and uncalled for as he firmly believes that the Govinda starrer is not vulgar in any manner.

Nihalani said, “CBFC has ordered too many cuts in my film. They have given UA certificate to Rangeela Raja. So, I have moved the High Court for relief. They have not followed any guidelines. I have been a part of the CBFC and I have been a film director and producer. I have never made films which would have anything worth a cut. Why this film? These cuts are unjustified and uncalled for.”

Pahlaj Nihalani was speaking to reporters after leaving the Bombay High Court.

About seeking relief from the Bombay High Court, Nihalani said, “I hope, just as other films have got justice; the High Court will give me some relief too. They have given relief to filmmakers who had moved the High Court when the CBFC had ordered cuts in my tenure. We used to follow guidelines, and still people thought we did it unreasonably.”

“People from our society know what films they want to watch and what films they do not want to watch. I have been a producer before and I am a producer even today. It is just that I was given the duty to lead the CBFC, so I did my job faithfully. But today, Prasoon Joshi doesn’t even go to the office, in his absence, the proxy chairman is clearing films from all over the country.” Nihalani added.

The former CBFC chairperson also remarked that the current CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi should be sacked. He said, “I had started online certification for films. The chairman is supposed to see what films are getting cleared and which ones are not, but here the chairman is always travelling and doesn’t sit in office. This is illegal and the government should sack him.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Salman Khan confirms film with Sanjay Dutt, says after Sikandar, he will do rustic, next-level action

“We kept the ticket prices at 200 rupees for that film, but it didn’t work out well,” he reflected. “For Sikandar, standard prices will apply.”

Bollywood star Salman Khan has announced his upcoming collaboration with Sanjay Dutt for a major action film. The two actors, who previously starred together in hit films like Saajan (1991) and Chal Mere Bhai (2001), discussed their new project during a press interaction in Mumbai on March 27.

Salman stated, “After Sikandar, I am set to do another big film that promises next-level action—specifically a rustic kind of action. I’m excited to work with my older brother in the industry, Sanjay Dutt.”

In addition to this project, Salman confirmed that his collaboration with Tamil director Atlee is currently on hold due to budget constraints. “That’s delayed. The budget is an issue for that film. He (Atlee) has written a very large-scale movie,” he mentioned, adding that the director for the action film with Dutt has yet to be confirmed.

The iconic duo of Salman and Sanjay Dutt gained widespread acclaim for their roles as adoptive brothers in Saajan, which became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s. They also appeared together in the comedy Chal Mere Bhai, directed by David Dhawan.

Recent reports have suggested that the actors might have special appearances in an American thriller filmed in the Middle East.

Salman’s film Sikandar is scheduled for release in theaters on March 30, coinciding with Eid al-Fitr. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie stars Rashmika Mandanna and Tamil actor Sathyaraj. Salman described the film’s narrative as morally uplifting, stating, “Its basic theme is that a king or a noble man will always do good, no matter where he is.”

Addressing recent concerns, Salman Khan spoke out about the death threats he has received from Lawrence Bishnoi, saying, “Bhagwan, Allah, everything is up to him.”

In his recent outings, including Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman has embraced his action hero persona. As co-producer of Sikandar, he chose not to set ticket prices at a reduced rate, referencing a negative experience with pricing during the release of Jai Ho (2014). “We kept the ticket prices at 200 rupees for that film, but it didn’t work out well,” he reflected. “For Sikandar, standard prices will apply.”

Emraan Hashmi is all set to return to one of his most iconic roles, as he announced the release date of Awarapan 2 on Monday. The sequel to the 2007 cult film Awarapan will arrive in cinemas on April 3, 2026, the actor revealed via Instagram on his 46th birthday, along with a teaser of the film.

Hashmi, who turned 46 today, marked the occasion by unveiling the teaser and the release date on his Instagram handle. Captioning the post with a powerful line from the film, he wrote: “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.”

Directed by Mohit Suri and produced under the Vishesh Films banner, Awarapan starred Hashmi alongside Shriya Saran and became a significant part of the 2000s pop culture wave. Known for its haunting soundtrack and brooding narrative, the film cemented Hashmi’s status as a romantic anti-hero.

The confirmation of a sequel comes after weeks of speculation, which were sparked earlier this month when Hashmi posted an animated teaser hinting at the film’s return.

In recent years, Hashmi has leaned back into mainstream cinema. In 2023, he notably played the antagonist in Tiger 3. He is also making his Telugu debut in the upcoming action film OG, co-starring Pawan Kalyan and Priyanka Mohan. Additionally, Hashmi will feature in G2, the sequel to Goodachari (2018), alongside Adivi Sesh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Madhu Shalini.

Hashmi was last seen in the web series Showtime, alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Mahima Makwana, and Mouni Roy.

Expanding his footprint in digital content, Hashmi is also headlining Ground Zero, a Kashmir-set BSF drama series.

With Awarapan 2, Hashmi’s return to one of his most-loved characters has sparked nostalgia among fans and added another big project to the actor’s packed slate.
