Uri is not a propaganda film: Anurag Kashyap

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri is getting a good response from the cine enthusiasts and critics as well, but there are some audiences who are calling it a propaganda film.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tweeted about Uri and said that this is “not a propaganda film.” He argued that any war film “will be patriotic by default.” He commented on the execution of the film and praised Vicky Kaushal’s performance in the film.

Anurag Kashyap’s tweet read, “Uri is not a propaganda film. Any war film about the heroism of its soldiers will be patriotic by default. By that standard, Border, LOC, Haqeeqat wore patriotism on its sleeve. War movies are either anti-war like ‘come and See’ or ‘patriotic’.”

He further tweeted, “I quite liked Uri for the way it was executed. I went in thinking it will be a propaganda film & it just sticks true to what happened with similar creative liberties most film makers take in telling a story.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_raw_html]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]“The Jingoism spouted in Uri was far lesser than the jingoism I see in American movies or war movies from anywhere across the world. Aamir Khan with his girlfriend Gauri Spratt

Bollywood icon Aamir Khan revealed that his long-cherished dream project, Mahabharata, might mark the culmination of his illustrious career.

Speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Khan shared that after the release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, he intends to focus entirely on bringing the epic Indian saga to the screen.

“Mahabharata is vast—layered with emotion, grandeur, and every human experience. It’s a story I’ve held close for years, yearning to translate it into cinema,” he said. When probed about whether it could be his last film, Khan reflected, “After this, I might feel I’ve said all I needed to.”

Khan has long described Mahabharata as his most ambitious venture, previously telling industry outlets that its script development alone could span years due to its complexity.

On the podcast, he emphasized the need for a multi-part series, potentially involving multiple directors to capture the epic’s sprawling narrative. “One film can’t contain Mahabharata’s depth,” he noted. Casting remains undecided, with Khan open to acting in the film but prioritizing suitability for each role over his own involvement.

The project, still in its infancy, promises to be the grandest of Khan’s career, potentially surpassing his past blockbusters in scale and impact. If realized, it could redefine Indian cinema’s approach to mythological storytelling, blending Aamir’s perfectionist vision with cutting-edge production.

In a related development, on May 30, 2025, Khan attended a Mumbai film conclave where he discussed the challenges of adapting Indian epics for global audiences.

He cited Mahabharata’s universal themes as a bridge to connect diverse viewers, sparking interest among international producers present. The event highlighted Khan’s commitment to cultural storytelling, amplifying anticipation for his magnum opus.

As Khan prepares to pour his creative energy into Mahabharata, his candid remarks about it possibly being his final project have stirred fans and industry watchers alike. The prospect of this epic as his cinematic swan song underscores his ambition to leave an indelible legacy in Indian filmmaking.
