On the second anniversary of Uri – The Surgical Strike, actor Vicky Kaushal unveiled the first posters of his next film The Immortal Ashwatthama. Touted to be a futuristic sci-fi thriller, the film is based on a character from the chapter of Mahabharata.

Sharing the first look posters of the film on Twitter,  Kaushal wrote he is overwhelmed and ecstatic to share the glimpse into the world of The Immortal Ashwathama on the second anniversary of his blockbuster film URI-The Surgical Strike. He cannot wait to get onto this journey with the dream team, said the actor.

With the sci-fi thriller, Kaushal reunited with his URI director Aditya Dhar and producer Ronnie Screwvala. In the movie, the actor will essay the role of a character inspired by the warrior Ashwatthama, who had a crucial role in the war between Pandavas and Kauravas in epic Mahabharata.

Kaushal will reportedly receive training in horse-riding and various martial art forms including krav maga and jujutsu for the film.

One of the two posters shows Kaushal in superhero avatar, holding a lightning sword in a futuristic setting with multiple skyscrapers in the background. He stood on the tips of the fingers. Another poster features a huge idol of Lord Shiva and a man standing opposite it with a sword.

The film is a high concept visual spectacle which raises the bar higher for the superhero genre not in India but across the world, captioned the production team RSVP to the post sharing the same two posters on Twitter.

Talking about the film, Kaushal said Ashwatthama was Aditya’s dream project, which required the backing of a visionary like Ronnie Screwvala to bring this spectacle to audiences. Exploring the newest form of technology alongside acting will be a new space for me as an actor, said the actor.

The film’s writer and director Aditya Dhar said The Immortal Ashwatthama would not just be a film but an experience. He is taking the film more as a responsibility than pressure to tell the epic story the way it meant to be told, said the director.

The film will go on floors from April 2021.
