Darlings trailer out: Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma’s starrer is mysterious and dark

Alia Bhatt’s first film as a producer, Darlings is all set to premiere on August 5 on Netflix. The trailer of the film was released today and features Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma in the lead roles.

The dark comedy also stars the Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew in an important role.

The trailer will take you through the life of Badru, played by Alia Bhatt, who is a strong-minded woman. Her mother, played by Shefali Shah, helps Badru to find her missing husband Hamza, played by Vijay Varma.

Two strong-minded women take help from Zulfi, played by Roshan Mathew, to find Hamza. The trailer then turns mysterious after it reveals the mother-daughter kidnapped Hamza and the reason behind his abduction is definitely dark.

Alia Bhatt too shared the trailer of Darlings with her fans on social media and said that she is excited, nervous, thrilled, and emotional to share her first film as a producer.

Darlings also mark the directorial debut of Jasmeet K Reen. Bankrolled by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma under Eternal Sunshine and Red Chilies Entertainment, Darlings music has been composed by Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar.

Alia Bhatt, who recently announced her pregnancy and completed shooting her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone, will be next seen in Brahmastra co-starring her husband Ranbir Kapoor. The Ayan Mukherji film marks the first film of Alia and Ranbir and is all set to hit the silver screen on September 9.

The romantic ballad from Brahmastra Kesariya is already winning hearts. The film will release in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Karan Johar announced his next Screw Dheela starring Tiger Shroff in the lead role. Helmed by Shashank Khaitan, the film is likely to see Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. Read the full report here.

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in several Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role in the 2007 comedy Welcome, has died at the age of 56.

Khan was known for playing supporting characters across Hindi cinema and had worked in films spanning several decades. His role as Balu in Welcome remains among his best-known performances.

Mushtaq Khan’s film career

Mushtaq Khan appeared in a wide range of films during his career. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gopi Kishan, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jodi No. 1 and Hera Pheri.

He also featured in more recent films including Stree 2, Gadar 2, Baby John, Dhoom Dhaam and Jaat. His filmography lists acting work continuing into 2026.

In Welcome, Khan played Balu, a supporting character in the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and other prominent actors.

Khan’s career also included television work, with his credits spanning a wide range of acting roles over the years.

Mushtaq Khan dies at 56

The actor’s death was reported on September 24, 2026. Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with liver cancer and had been hospitalised for around 15 days. Further details surrounding his death were awaited in the initial reports.

Mushtaq Khan was 56. IMDb lists his date of birth as December 31, 1969.

The newborn is the couple’s second daughter. Deepika and Ranveer became parents for the first time in September 2024, when they welcomed their daughter Dua.
