Happy Birthday Saira Banu: Saira Banu shares photo with Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Dev Anand on her 79th birthday

Celebrating her 79th birthday, veteran actor Saira Banu took a nostalgic journey through time, sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram. On Wednesday, Saira posted a series of old photos, fondly reminiscing about her past. She recalled a special memory from her 22nd birthday when her late husband, the renowned actor Dilip Kumar, made an extraordinary effort. Despite being in Chennai, he traveled all the way to Mumbai, marking the beginning of a beautiful tradition. Dilip Kumar would continue to make nightly journeys just to share dinner with her, and it was on one such evening that he proposed marriage.

The first monochrome photo depicted a young Saira holding bouquets and garlands while standing beside a cake on a table. Dilip Kumar stood beside her, smiling at the cake. The picture also featured Rajendra Kumar and Dev Anand. The subsequent photo, captured quite recently, showed Saira and Dilip Kumar holding a cake-cutting knife, symbolizing their enduring bond.

In her caption, Saira Banu reflected on the significance of birthdays in her life. She recollected how her mother, Pari Chehra Naseem Banuji, always went to great lengths to ensure memorable celebrations with friends, whether in Mumbai or during her time at London School. Saira vividly remembered an instance when her mother had arranged an impressively towering cake that could rival the Qutub Minar in stature.

Saira further shared that life soon became a cascade of light and joy, transforming occasions like birthdays into a deluge of affection, flowers, and messages from friends and fans, which turned her home into a Garden of Eden. She fondly recounted the evening of August 23, 1966, when the House Warming of their new residence at 34-B Pali Hill took place. The house was thoughtfully positioned right in front of Dilip Sahib’s room (Ghar Kay Saamney) and was attended by Dilip Kumar, who had flown into town from Madras to celebrate Saira Banu’s birthday on the special invitation of her mother.
