Guru Purnima 2022: Teachings of Gautam Buddha that will help you develop new perspectives of life
Guru Purnima is a festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists in India, Nepal and Bhutan.

The Guru is the person who guides you on the correct path after you enter this world and teaches you what it means to truly live your life to the fullest. He can be anyone. Our parents, however, are the first Gurus.

Every day is Guru’s Day but in Hinduism, there is a separate day designated to honour the achievements of the Guru, known as Guru Purnima.

Guru Purnima is a festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists in India, Nepal and Bhutan. This day is dedicated to all academic and spiritual gurus or teachers. Guru Purnima falls on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha, i.e June-July. This year it will be celebrated on July 13.

On this day, here are the teachings of Gautam Buddha that will help you to attain a new perspective on life.

  1. The first universal truth Buddha found was that nothing is lost in this universe. Old solar systems disintegrate into cosmic rays. We are the children of our parents, and we will be the parents of our children.
  2. The second universal truth is that everything changes and keeps on changing continuously. Dinosaurs and mammoths used to rule this planet, but now we humans rule the planet. Life is like a river, it keeps on flowing, ever-changing.
  3. The first step in changing your life is keeping yourself open to change. The right view of life is to see everything through compassion and wisdom.
  4. One should always be aware of his thoughts, his deeds, and his words.
  5. Your words are the first thing individuals around you judge you with, so whenever you speak, you should be aware, respectful, and truthful towards others.
  6. To attain peace of mind, we should learn how to keep our focus on one object or thing at a time.
  7. Buddha was a firm believer that, an individual should be mindful of what he earns and from where he earns. One should not harm others to earn their living.
