All Tuesdays, or Mangalwar, are dedicated to Goddess Parvati. During this month, Tuesday fasting is referred to as Mangal Gauri Vrat in Drik Panchang.

This year, the holy month of Sawan will start on July 14 and will end on August 12. The first Shravan Somwar will be observed on July 18. The auspicious month coincides with a number of Hindu festivals, including Naag Panchami and Krishna Janmashtami. The end of Sawan is celebrated with festivals like Teej and Raksha Bandhan.
