According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Shravan. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is a symbol of affection and love between brother and sister.
On this day, sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers and pray for their brother’s long life, happiness, and prosperity. In return for tying rakhi to their sister, the brother promises to protect her life long.
There is a lot of confusion among people regarding the date of the Raksha Bandhan festival this year. Several reports by astrologers said that the festival of Rakhi will be celebrated on August 11, 2022, while some are predicting that it will be commemorated on August 12, 2022.
This time the shadow of Bhadra will also be present on Raksha Bandhan.

Raksha Bandhan 2022 date
Amid the confusion, Rakhi is said to fall on August 11, 2022, this year. Others claim that because of the debate surrounding the Purnima tithi and Bhadra, they will celebrate the event the following day.
Panchang states as followed:
Actually, Shravan Purnima will fall on August 11, 2022, this year. Drik Panchang states that Purnima will begin at 10:38 am on August 11, 2022, and finish at 7:05 am on August 12, 2022. However, Bhadra will also coincide with Purnima, which, in accordance with mythology, is not the proper time to tie a rakhi.
Bhadra will continue till the first half of Purnima, according to Drik Panchang. On August 11th, at 8:51 pm, this will end. Scriptures advise against tying Rakhi during Bhadra because it is believed to be a malicious time when no auspicious activities should be carried out. Rakhi can thus be tied after 8:51 p.m. on August 11 and till 7:16 a.m. on August 12 during the Purnima tithi.
