CAT 2021: From dress code to valid Id proof, things to keep in mind ahead of the examination

Common Admission Test (CAT 2021) exam will be conducted tomorrow on November 28, 2021 in three different shifts. In Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will be responsible for conducting this exam.

Common Admission Test (CAT 2021) examination will be carried in three sessions. The first session will be the forenoon session, which will start at 8:30 am to 10:30 am. The second session will be the afternooon session, which will commence at 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and the last session will be the evening session, which will begin at 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Candidates can attempt only one session at one time.

Although, there are few things which candidates need to keep in mind before reaching the examination hall.

Things to keep in mind before arriving exam hall

  • Admit cards and valid ID proof is compulsory to bring to the exam centre
  • IIM Ahmedabad has decided a dress code for both the male and female candidates.
  • The candidates who will appear for CAT 2021, will have to go under inspection.
  • No metal objects are allowed in the examination hall. Candidates who fail to do so, their exam will be cancelled by the examinee.
  • No jewelry or metal accesories should be worn by the applicants.
  • Only shoes and thick soles footwear are allowed.
  • Large button garments are prohibited inside the exam centre.
  • Plain pullovers, socks, sweaters and cardigans with pockets are not allowed in the CAT exall hall.
  • Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators or watches are not permitted.
  • Do not carry wallets or sunglasses.
  • Candidates who use metal implant or pacemaker will need to show supporting medical documents.

The Indian Army has announced the Agniveer Common Entrance Examination (CEE) Result 2026, allowing candidates to check their qualifying status through the official recruitment portal. The Army Recruitment Office (ARO)-wise merit lists have been uploaded on joinindianarmy.nic.in, where candidates can download the PDF corresponding to their recruitment region.

The merit lists contain the names and roll numbers of candidates who have successfully cleared the written examination and become eligible for the next phase of the Agniveer recruitment process.

How to check Indian Army Agniveer CEE Result 2026

Candidates can access their results by following these steps:

  • Visit the official Indian Army recruitment website.
  • Click on the Agniveer CEE Result 2026 link available on the homepage.
  • Select the relevant Army Recruitment Office (ARO) or recruitment region.
  • Download the merit list PDF.
  • Search for your roll number or name to confirm your qualification status.

What happens after the Agniveer CEE result?

Candidates shortlisted in the Common Entrance Examination will now have to undergo the remaining stages of the recruitment process. These include:

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Document Verification (DV)
  • Medical Examination

Only candidates who successfully clear every stage will be considered for final selection under the Agniveer recruitment programme.

Candidates advised to verify details carefully

After downloading the merit list, candidates should carefully check all the information mentioned in the document. If they notice any discrepancy related to their result or personal details, they should immediately contact their respective Army Recruitment Office (ARO) for assistance.

Board examination marks could soon carry greater significance in admissions to medical and engineering courses, with the Centre reportedly considering a proposal to assign 50% weightage to board scores alongside entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE.

The proposal is part of a broader set of education reforms aimed at reducing the pressure associated with high-stakes examinations and making the admission process more balanced.

Education Ministry panel reviewing admission reforms

According to sources, the proposal is being examined by the Ministry of Education’s nine-member committee that was constituted last year. The panel was tasked with studying students’ growing dependence on coaching institutes, the rise of “dummy schools”, and concerns over fairness in major entrance examinations.

The committee is exploring several measures to improve the existing admission system while reducing the emphasis on a single examination.

Why the reforms are being considered

The discussions come in the wake of multiple controversies involving the examination system, including reported evaluation errors and paper leak incidents. These developments have sparked a wider debate over the credibility and reliability of high-stakes entrance examinations.

To address these concerns, the committee is considering giving 50% weightage to board examination marks in the admission merit process.

Other changes under consideration

Apart from increasing the role of board examination scores, the panel is also examining several other reforms.

These include aligning entrance examinations more closely with school syllabi to reduce students’ dependence on coaching centres, allowing multiple attempts for entrance tests, and gradually introducing adaptive, on-demand computer-based examinations.

Current admission process

At present, admissions to medical and engineering programmes are primarily based on candidates’ performance in entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE. Students are also required to secure the prescribed qualifying marks in their board examinations to become eligible for these entrance tests.

The proposed reforms are currently under consideration, and no final decision has been announced.

The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) 2026, scheduled to be conducted on June 28, has been postponed following allegations of a question paper leak. The decision was announced after police uncovered material suspected to be linked to the examination during a raid in Thane district.

Authorities said the suspected leak came to light during an early morning operation in Bhiwandi, where individuals were allegedly found in possession of question papers that matched the actual examination material. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, while further investigations are underway.

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) subsequently decided to postpone the examination to maintain the integrity and transparency of the recruitment process. Officials stated that a fresh date for the examination will be announced later. Candidates will be required to download new admit cards once the revised schedule is released.

According to officials, more than six lakh candidates were expected to appear for the examination across 1,700-plus centres in the state. The postponement, announced just a day before the test, has affected thousands of aspirants preparing for teaching positions in Maharashtra schools.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the security of competitive examinations in the state, with opposition parties criticising the government over recurring allegations of paper leaks.
