Former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni on Tuesday showed the world and his fans that he still has the sharpest cricketing brain by plotting the dismissal of former RCB skipper Virat Kohli during CSK vs RCB IPL 2022 match.

Chasing a target in excess of 200, it was expected that Virat Kohli will finally deliver with the bat however, the former RCB skipper could only manage 1 run before getting dismissed. RCB eventually lost the match by 23 runs.

Dhoni, who has played very closely with Kohli for more than a decade, has come up again with his strategic mind to dismiss the former RCB skipper. However, his last-minute fielding changes led to the dismissal of Virat Kohli during the match against RCB at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Former CSK captain MS Dhoni, who has been aiding new skipper Ravindra Jadeja with field placements from time to time, immediately swung into action and put a fielder at deep square leg for the attempted pull shot, something Virat deploys quite often against the short delivery.

As a result of this, Kohli played the pull shot on the first delivery of the 5th over of CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary and was caught at deep mid-wicket by Shivam Dube. In commentary later, Kohli had explained how Dhoni set up fielding and dismissed him.

Videos of Dhoni’s strategic brilliance that spelt doom for Kohli started doing rounds on social media.

Unlike any other cricketer in the world, MS Dhoni has not only contributed to their team by scoring runs but also took catches and did stumpings from behind the wicket.

Apart from his principal roles and behind-the-wicket activities, the things that Dhoni shares with his teammates in the dressing room make him an invaluable cricketer even two years after international retirement. However, batting in the middle-order, sometimes as a finisher and wicket keeping are his principal roles in CSK.
