BKU leader Rakesh Tikait gets death threat, probe ordered

Farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait recently received a death threat from an unknown caller. Police reported that the unknown caller also hurled abuses at him.

Abhishek Yadav, Senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarnagar, said that the police have launched an investigation based on a complaint that was filed by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader’s driver Perjval Tyagi at the Civil Lines police station.

It is reported that the senior sub-inspector Rakesh Sharma also visited Tikait’s residence and spoke to him.

The report states that the threat call came on Sunday morning when Rakesh was in his house. And when the police got the information about this, they reached Tikait’s house to collect details.

The complaint has been filed under sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) was registered. DSP of Muzaffarnagar, Kuldeep Singh said that an investigation has been initiated.

Farmers’ leader Tikait said that it is not the first time that such an incident has taken place. He further said he filed a police complaint before too. He said that someone called and started hurling abuses at him, and even threatened to kill him. He further said that he will bring this number to the public domain if the police failed to trace the call, the man should be arrested.

In other news, the Kashmir Files has been into controversy ever since it has hit the theatre. BJP government has made the film tax-free but it isn’t going well with the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed Kejriwal over his remarks on the film.

Vijay, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), acknowledged the wishes shared by both leaders following the party’s impressive electoral debut, which has significantly altered the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.

Responding to the Prime Minister on social media platform X, Vijay said that his party’s focus would remain on public welfare and development. He emphasised that governance should rise above political differences and aim at improving the lives of the people.

Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India, accusing it of playing “nasty games” during the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections.
