G20 Summit

A team of researchers from a Canadian research organisation that specialises in following multilateral summits like the G7, G20, and BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) have been deployed in New Delhi to keep track of the commitments that have been made by the leaders of the G20 countries.

Representatives of the group stated on the first day of the summit that the organisation plans to provide a report card next year on how the member countries perform on a broad range of problems, including growth, climate, sustainable development, gender, and financial inclusion.

The University of Toronto’s Global Governance Programme houses the G20 Research Group, the G7 Research Group, and the BRICS Research Group, which have been tracking the commitments made by group leaders and their fulfillment since 2008.

According to data obtained by the group, only 54% of the more than 3,000 pledges made by G20 members collectively over the course of the last 15 years have been carried out.

The senior researcher for the group, Jessica Rapson, holds a master’s degree in statistical science and machine learning from Oxford University, said, her job is to build tools powered by artificial intelligence to predict how well the G20 members are likely to follow through on their commitments. According to her, predictive AI creates new opportunities for enhancing the G20’s ability to advance important global concerns.

India’s G20 presidency focuses on One Earth, One Family, and One Future’ as it seeks to solve common issues. Assuring growth, solving the climate catastrophe, correcting backward steps towards sustainable development goals, advancing digital public infrastructure, reforming multilateral institutions, and encouraging women-led development are among the main areas of concentration.

Rapson claims that by incorporating predictive AI into the G20 operations, the members can identify high-risk commitments, make more informed decisions, and allocate resources strategically to those areas where compliance needs to increase the most in an article titled Strengthening the G20 System, which is a part of a 172-page special publication by the G20 Research Group on the New Delhi summit.

She is one of the 15 experts from the research group present for the two-day summit.

Two days after the Congress was defeated by the BJP in the Rajasthan assembly election, Karni Sena head Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead in his Jaipur residence on Tuesday, sparking a political brawl.

The Karni Sena announced a state-wide bandh on Wednesday in response to the murder, while the BJP, which is set to take power in the state, asserted that the killing was part of the Congress’ revenge plan after the party lost the election.

In a video posted by BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi claims that police were notified of a potential security danger, but Congress chief minister Ashok Gehlot scaled back his protection.

On Tuesday, three men riding bikes approached Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi’s Jaipur home and opened fire. Social media users were able to see the CCTV footage of the shootout incident.

As he returned fire, one of Gogamedi’s security guards was shot. The cross-firing claimed the life of one of the three attackers. Although the authorities first said the attacker died from gunfire from Gogamedi’s security guards, he was really shot and killed by his cronies.

Gogamedi posted on X on December 3, the day the election results were announced and the Congress lost to the BJP, citing the Congress’s disregard for the Karni Sena as the reason for the defeat.

The murder was committed by the Rohit Godara gang, according to Rajasthan Police. Gangster Rohit Godara has deep ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar gangs.

In protest over the death, Gogamedi’s followers called for a bandh on Wednesday and threatened to shut down the entire state if something was not done about it.

All of the state’s popular leaders, including Rajyavardhan Rathore, Ashok Gehlot of the Congress, Sachin Pilot of the BJP, and Vasundhara Raje of the Congress, condemned the death, which occurred when everyone was waiting for the BJP to form the next government. Not long after the BJP took control, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate dubbed it the’return of jungle raj.

The Congress party announced Telangana Congress Chief Revanth Reddy will be the next chief minister of the state on Tuesday. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said the swearing in ceremony is going to take place on December 7. The Congress party did not reveal whether there will be one or more deputy chief ministers and what role senior leaders from Telangana will have in the government.

Reddy has been credited for the Congress party’s thumping victory in the Telangana state elections. He was the face of the Congress’s winning campaign. Revanth Reddy is a Lok Sabha MP and a two time MLA. He represented the assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2009 and later in Telangana assembly in 2014.

Reddy started his political career with the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS. In 2007 he was elected as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) as an independent candidate. Later Reddy joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Kodangal constituency in 2009.

He quit the party after he found involved in an alledged bribing scandal. He joined the Congress party in 2017 and was appointed as the TPCC chief in 2021. The 54 year old leader earned many critics within the party ranks after he changed the style of functioning as a state Congress chief.

He was projected as a big stage leader and addressed many high ticket rallies in the campaigning for the assembly elections. Reddy is known to take on KCR and his family in his speeches and interviews. In a historic win the Congress party defeated the K Chandrasekhar Rao led (BRS) government as it crossed the majority mark by winning 64 seats in Telangana. The BRS trailed with 38 seats, while the BJP improved its 2018 tally by winning eight seats.  The AIMIM won 7 seats, while the CPI could manage only one seat.

The right-wing leader of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, drank tea with the men who killed him at his Jaipur home first. In a terrifying footage of the incident, the accused was seen sitting next to Gogamedi before shooting him, taking him by surprise. He was close-range shot at least five times, the last bullet going right through his brain.

The commander of the fringe outfit can be seen on CCTV staring at his phone when the individuals seated across from him got up and opened fire. The gunmen opened fire on him after seeing one of his guards attempt to stop them.

They (the attackers) sat with Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi for at least 10 minutes before shooting him, according to police.

The men can be seen firing at Gogamedi repeatedly in the 20-second video, even after he had stopped moving.

Reports state that the incident happened at approximately 12:30 PM today. After being hurt and being taken to a hospital, Gogamedi and two of his friends were informed that the well-known Rajput chieftain had passed away.

Unseen on the footage, one of the attackers was killed by the crossfire. According to the authorities, the other two escaped in the motorbike of two guys they had threatened with pistols.

One of the Goldy Brar gang members has taken credit for the killing. We accept complete accountability for the killing of Sukhdev Gogamedi, Rohit Godara Kapurisr said on Facebook. He said the incident was sparked by Gogamedi’s used to support their enemies.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and several governmental agencies in the nation are looking for Canadian mobster Brar. The Punjabi artist Siddhu Moosewala’s murder is another reason he is wanted.

Gogamedi was a member of the Rajput Karni Sena, the group that had organised the demonstrations against the Bollywood film Padmaavat. Later, under the leadership of Lokendra Singh Kalvi, he broke away from the group and started his own group in 2015.
