Passengers misbehaves with Hema Malini on Qatar Airways flight, no action taken yet

In a case of indecency, Qatar Airways flight passengers reportedly misbehaved with Bollywood actor and Mathura MP Hema Malini. The incident took place when the actor turned MP, was travelling on Qatar Airways flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai to Hamad International Airport, Doha.

According to sources, the passengers were trying to take a picture of Hema Malini with flash when she was sleeping. The horrific incident occurred at around 2 am on Wednesday. The crew members of the airlines allegedly did not take notice of the incident. Notably, there was no response from Qatar Airways after complaints were lodged. Hema Malini was travelling on a business class of Qatar Airways.

Reportedly, Hema Malini’s assistants have expressed displeasure over the rude behaviour of the fellow passengers in the Qatar Airways flight and the delay in taking action despite the complaint. In the complaint, the actor has sought action against the negligent crew members and demanded the airways to ascertain that such a situation does not take place during the return flight on September 11. Actor Hema Malini’s close aides asserted that the Qatar Airways customer service team had merely sent an automated acknowledgement.

Following the incident, questions are being raised about Right to Privacy of the actor. It is to be noted that Right to Privacy in India is considered as a fundamental right recognized and protected by the Constitution of India. Furthermore, the right was explicitly upheld as a fundamental right by the Supreme Court of India in a landmark judgement in 2017.

Recently on Wednesday, two female passengers were removed from the flight by crew members after they refused to sit on vomit stained seats on an Air Canada flight. Evidently, many cases of indecency with passengers, particularly women, have been continuously reported in national and international fights.

According to reports, the BJP legislature party is expected to meet on Friday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to elect its leader formally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and several senior BJP leaders are likely to attend the oath-taking ceremony.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has emerged as the frontrunner for the Chief Minister’s post following the BJP’s strong performance in the elections. Other names reportedly under consideration include Samik Bhattacharya, Sukanta Majumdar and Swapan Dasgupta.

The political developments come a day after Governor RN Ravi dissolved the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and state cabinet following the completion of the Assembly election process. The dissolution order was issued under Article 174(2)(b) of the Constitution after outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declined to submit her resignation despite the Trinamool Congress losing power.
