Bhai Dooj, like every Hindu festival, has a fascinating history. According to beliefs, t This ritual is linked to Goddess Yamuna and her brother Lord Yama, who were descendants of Lord Sung and Sangya. It is believed that Yamuna often invited Yama to visit her home. Yama would graciously decline her sister’s invitation because he was occupied with his work. He did, however, surprise her sister Yamuna by paying her a visit one day.
Yamuna was ecstatic, and she welcomed her brother Yama by applying teeka on his forehead and preparing a variety of delicacies for him. Impressed by her dedication and affection, Lord Yama asked Yami to make a wish. After that Yamuna asked him to bless the brothers with a long life on Bhai Dooj. Since that time, this day has become prominent in the Hindu tradition.
