Hyderabad: Fed up with their son's alcohol addiction, parents pay Rs 8 lakh to contract killers for his murder, 7 arrested

In Hyderabad, fed up with the atrocities of their drunken son, a couple hired contract killers for
Rs 8 lakhs to get him murdered.

Father of the deceased Sai Ram, Kshatriya Ram Singh, is a principal in a government school. The Hyderabad police have arrested 7 people in this case. These include the deceased’s parents, his maternal uncle and 4 contract killers.

The deceased, Sai Ram (26), was the only son of his parents. He had dropped out of studies and used to beat his parents, whenever they refused to give money to buy booze. Frustrated, the parents hired contract killers for his murder. After taking the deceased to a temple, the accused made him drink alcohol and then strangled him to death with a rope.

Accused arrested with the help of CCTV footage

Sai Ram’s body was recovered from Musi area in Suryapet on October 18. When the police checked the CCTV footage of the area, it was found that Sai Ram had gone somewhere in the family’s car for the last time. Sai Ram’s parents went to mortuary in the same car after the body was found, where they identified their son’s body.

The suspicion of the police also increased because the parents had not filed a missing complaint of their son. When the police interrogated, both confessed their crime.

Deceased’s maternal uncle too was involved in murder

Police said that on October 18, the accused Satyanarayan and Ravi had taken Sai Ram to a temple in the family car, where the rest of the accused met him. Everyone drank alcohol together and after getting drunk, Sai Ram was strangled with a rope. After this the accused threw the body in the Musi river of Suryapet.

Delhi Court extends judicial custody of CM Arvind Kejriwal till May 20 in Liquor policy case

The top Court said that interim bail will only be granted if the AAP supremo agrees to refrain from discharging any official duties

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of CM Arvind Kejriwal till May 20 in the Liquor policy case. Kejriwal was produced before the court via video conferencing on the expiry of his custody which was granted earlier. Special Judge for CBI and Enforcement Directorate Kaveri Baweja also extended the judicial custody of co-accused Chanpreet Singh till May 20.

The order coincided with the hearing in the Supreme Court as Arvind Kejriwal had challenged his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the liquor policy case. The two-judge bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Sanjiv Khanna expressed that it will consider the question of interim bail for Arvind Kejriwal. The court said that Arvind Kejriwal is the elected chief minister of Delhi and the current circumstances are extraordinary as the Lok Sabha elections are taking place.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who was appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, objected to the Supreme Court hearing arguments on interim bail and asked what example are we setting? He asked if the other people are less important than the chief minister.  He further questioned why a chief minister is being treated differently than a common man. Mehta added there cannot be any deviation only because he is a chief minister.

During the hearing, the top court told Arvind Kejriwal’s counsel that granting interim bail to the chief minister would come under the condition that he will refrain from carrying out any official duties, as this can potentially cause conflicts. The court said that had there been no elections, it would not have given any interim relief and added that they do not want to interfere with the working of the government.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with corruption allegations linked to Delhi’s liquor policy, charges which have been denied by the Aam Aadmi Party. He is currently under judicial custody in Tihar jail.

After joining the BJP, Khera said, she wouldn’t be able to be here if she hadn’t received protection from the pm Modi-led BJP government. The manner in which I was misbehaved with on the land of Kaushalya Mata for being a devotee of Ram, for having darshan of Ram Lalla, she was mistreated, Khera said.
