India logs more than 3,000 fresh cases after 46 days, Delhi reports over 1,000 new cases for 6th consecutive day, triggers concern for 4th wave

The coronavirus cases in India are rising day by day. After 11 weeks of sigh of relief, the Covid-19 cases have again surged, sparking concerns for the fourth wave. In the last 24 hours, India reported 3,303 new Covid-19 cases, taking the active tally to 16,980. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country also logged 39 fatalities on Monday.

The daily Covid cases crossed the 3,000-mark after 46 days. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has grown by 701 cases. According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 0.66 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.61 percent.

The maximum cases in the country are being reported in Delhi. The national capital on Monday recorded 1,367 fresh cases and 1 fatality. Delhi reported over 1,000 new cases in a day for the sixth consecutive day. According to the health bulletin, the positivity rate in the country stood at 4.50 percent. The total number of active cases in the national capital has reached 4,832.

Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 186 new coronavirus infections, including 112 in Mumbai and zero fatality. Tamil Nadu on Monday registered 55 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the caseload to 34,53,607. Meanwhile, 18 more students from IIT-Madras tested positive, bringing the total number of infected students to 78.

Furthermore, the Centre is expected to cut the time between the second Covid vaccination shot and the precautionary dose from nine to six months. The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) is likely to make a proposal on narrowing the gap at its meeting on April 29, they stated.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crores on May 4, 2021, and three crores on June 23.

Rape accused lynched in Bihar’s Katihar

A 28-year-old man who was accused of rape was lynched in Bihar’s Katihar district.

The incident took place on Thursday near the Hasanganj police station area. The victim’s family nabbed 28-year-old Mohammad Sagir, who was accused of raping an 11-year-old minor, from the market area adjacent to Hasanganj.

The video of the incident is doing rounds on the internet wherein Sagir could be seen tied to a tree and mercilessly beaten up by the villagers with sticks.

Reports further said that villagers thrashed him till his condition became critical following which the police reached the spot and rushed him to the local hospital where he was declared dead.

The victim’s family alleged that Sagir took the 11-year-old to a secluded place late at night and raped her.

Two separate police complaints have been registered from both parties and the rape victim’s family has fled from the area, reports stated.

A similar incident took place in Assam in August wherein a rape and murder accused was lynched by a mob for escaping from the court. The incident took place in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

Reports said the police failed to reach the spot as the area was not easily accessible. Later, the police find the rape accused severely injured and tried to rescue him from the mob.

He was rushed to Dhakuakhana Civil Hospital where he was declared dead, reports said.

The accused Barua, along with two other accused, fled from the toilet of the Dhakuakhana Judicial Magistrate’s Court. He earlier escaped with handcuffs from the Covid-19 ward of a hospital and was rearrested after 2 days.

Reports said he was also injured during an encounter in September 2021.

Meanwhile, an AAP leader from Punjab was arrested on Thursday for molesting a minor girl in the Amritsar district.

Punjab AAP leader arrested for molesting

A Punjab Aam Aadmi Party leader was arrested for molesting a minor in Amritsar, Punjab on Thursday. Reports say the leader along with his friend molested a 15-year-old girl.

The incident took place in the Majitha area of Amritsar district and the accused have been identified as AAP leader Preetpal Singh Bal and his friend Rajbir Singh, reports further said.

Following the incident, the victim filed a police complaint and both accused were produced in the court. In her complaint, the victim said the accused persons ripped off her clothes and sexually harassed her.

The victim informed about her mother’s affair with a Senior Secondary school teacher Dharmendra Pal Singh Billa following which her mother left home along with her. Billa is friends with the AAP leader and he ripped off the victim’s clothes and harassed her in front of Preetpal Singh Bal, the reports stated.

After hearing both sides, the court sent the accused to 14 days of judicial custody.

In September, another AAP leader from Gujarat was arrested by the Gir Somnath Police for raping a 23-year-old woman.

Reports said the accused AAP leader Bhagu Vala was allegedly running a video-making agency in the name of Vishwa films. He lured the victim on the pretext to give her work as a model in an advertisement and asked her for a photoshoot.

On the pretext of a photoshoot, the accused called the victim to his flat and raped her.

Bareilly: People open fire at Hari Mandir after Shastra Puja on Dussehra, case filed

The Baradari Police Station has lodged an FIR against a BJP leader and unknown people for firing in the air after Shastra Puja on the occasion of Dussehra on Wednesday. The incident is reported from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

In the video, a huge crowd of people can be seen at the Hari Mandir of the Model Town. After Shastri Puja was over, some residents opened fire and shot several rounds in the air as a celebratory firing. The whole incident is captured in the video. The video of the same is going viral on social media.

An FIR was registered in the matter on behalf of Sub-Inspector Vinay Kumar. According to Vinay Kumar, some people worshiped weapons on the occasion of the Dussehra festival at Hari Mandir behind Model Town.

The police said the probe to identify people is underway. SP city Rahul Bhati said an FIR in the matter has been registered against an unknown person under section 336 (act to endanger life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 30 Arms Act.

It is alleged that this act of people comes under the purview of the Arms Act. Hence an FIR was registered against the unknown people on the basis of the viral video. The situation of panic is created among people after an FIR has been registered in this matter. There is a probability that all these people are associated with the Hindu organization. Some of them are also members of the political party.
