series decider

India and Sri Lanka are ready for the final and T20I series decider encounter on Thursday at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Both teams will lock horns each other to seal the 3-match T20I series.

This will also be the last T20 before the T20I World Cup in UAE.

The hosts levelled the three-match series 1-1 by registering 4 wickets win in the rescheduled second T20I last night.

Team India will be looking to return to winning ways after losing second game in absence of 9 of their regular players who were ruled out from the last two T20Is due to Covid-19 protocols.

After Krunal tested positive, the eight other players – Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Manish Pandey, K Gowtham and Ishan Kishan – have been kept under isolation till Friday and will sit out in the third T20I.

With 8 other close contacts of Krunal Pandya got locked up in their hotel rooms while the debutants Nitish Rana, Chetan Sakariya, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devdutt Padikkal took the field but failed to impress in their first game. But India have not only managed to take the game but also looked on course for victory at one stage.

The Shikhar Dhawan led side, which is already missing key 8 players due to Covid-19’s stringent protocol, will be expected to miss another fast bowler Navdeep Saini who had sustained a shoulder injury in the second T20I. The Bengal speedster Sandeep Warrier, who was the part of India’s under-19 world cup winning squad in 2018, will be the first-choice to replace Saini

India were struggling the most with their batting department, which now has only 4 specialists and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. However, India don’t have any batsmen left on the bench at this stage.   Dhawan, Gaikwad, Padikkal, Rana and Samson will have to carry the team’s hopes once again when they come out to bat.
