In a shocking incident, a Madhya Pradesh policeman stormed his girlfriend’s house and opened fire at her family, killing her father while injuring the woman and her brother. The police personnel then killed himself by jumping in front of a speeding train.

According to reports, on late Sunday night, 25-year-old Subhash Kharadi, who was employed as a driver in the Madhya Pradesh Police and posted in Dewas, stormed the house of his girlfriend Shivani (25) in Shajapur district and shot at the family with a Katta or country-made pistol, killing the woman’s father, and dealing critical injuries to her and her brother.

The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Jakir Khan, the police said, adding that the woman and her brother also received critical bullet wounds and are undergoing treatment at a hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.

The accused then fled the scene and later posted pictures of him and his girlfriend and wrote: “I killed her because she betrayed me. I have given her a pain that she will never forget.”

Thinking that he had killed his girlfriend in cold blood, the guilt-ridden man then apparently died by suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train and his mutilated body was found on railway tracks.

A senior police official said that the injured woman and her brother sustained grievous wounds in the firing and were rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to Indore for advanced treatment. However, the condition of both the victims remains critical, he said.

The official said that police has registered a case in this regard and initial reports suggest that the incident was the outcome of a twisted love story in which the accused felt betrayed after being allegedly cheated on by his girlfriend.

Further investigation is ongoing, he said.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Friday ended the speculations of his switching allegiance to BJP as he called Rahul Gandhi “our leader” and urged Congress workers to join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the State.

Taking to X, Nath said that the Congress workers were excited to welcome the Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. He said our leader Rahul Gandhi has taken to the streets across the country and announced a decisive fight against injustice, oppression and exploitation.

He also urged the people of Madhya Pradesh and the State Congress workers to become the strength and courage of Gandhi by joining the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in large numbers. He insisted on togetherness, which will bring this great campaign against injustice to an end.

Earlier, Nath increased more suspense to the rumours as he neither denied nor accepted what has been the hot rumour doing the buzz in the capital.

Speaking to reporters, Nath asked the media to lower their excitement over speculation of him and his son Nakul Kamal Nath joining the BJP and said he is not denying it and will inform them of the news if there is something in the coming days.

Also, he and his son Nakul Kamal Nath arrived in Delhi today reportedly to meet the top leaders of the BJP. However, Congress rejected the rumours of him joining the BJP and recalled what former PM Indira Gandhi said about Nath.

Earlier in Jharkhand, Gandhi said Congress stands for Jal, Jungle, and Jamin of the tribal people, for education and employment of youths. He said economic imbalance, demonetization, GST and unemployment have ruined the future of the youths in the country.  On the way to Bokaro, he interacted with coal miners and their children at Godhar Kali Basti in Dhanbad district.

On January 14, Congress kicked off the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra from Manipur’s Thoubal. The yatra aims to cover over 6,700 kilometres over 67 days, going through 110 districts.
