- Early in the morning, devotees take shower and prepare the altar with Maa Durga’s picture or idol.
- A big lamp should be lit in front of the Akhand Jyoti altar.
- Flowers, fruits, and coconut, among other things, are presented to Maha Gauri.
- Ringing bells and blowing the shell are two other practices that take place during the aarti.
- Barley is seeded in earthen pots on this day, and it is seen as a symbol of wealth.
- On this day, the house is not left empty, and devotees fast from sunrise to sunset. If a person is unable to do so due to medical reasons, they can eat fruits and milk instead.
- The puja is performed again in the evening after the morning aarti. The fast is completed after the sunset.
