Miss World 2021: Date, time, and who is representing India?

Manushi Chillar won the crown of Miss World 2017. This year, Manasa Varanasi is representing India. With strong beliefs in the potential of the youth, Manasa Varanasi will compete with women from more than a 100 countries on December 17 in Puerto Rico.

All eyes are now set on the Miss World crown after Harnaaz Sandhu won the crown of Miss Universe 2021. Miss World 2021 is to be held on December 17 at 4:30 IST at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, San Juan, Puerto Rico. As the much-awaited day is right at the doorstep, there is much curiosity about what is in store for the watchers.

Who is representing India for Miss World this year?

Manasa Varanasi, Femina Miss India 2020 will represent India at the 70th edition of Miss World Pageant. She was placed in the top 3 at Femina Miss Telangana 2019 and won the Femina Miss Telanagan in 2020. She is an engineer by profession. She also advocates to strengthen child protection laws in India for her Beauty With a Purpose campaign. She also started an awareness campaign against sexual abuse of children called “We Can”. She believes in availing quality education and resources to the youth.

List of Indians who won the Miss World title

India has won the crown six times in the past. The most recent was Manushi Chillar, who won the crown of Miss World in 2017. Reita Faria became the first Indian to win an international title when she won the beauty pageant crown in 1966. After 28 years, Aishwarya Rai won the title in 1994. Diana Hayden won in 1997 and Yukta Moohey in 1999. And, in 2000, Priyanka Chopra brought the title home.

Jamaican singer Toni-Ann Singh holds the title currently. She won the crown in 2019 and hence, is the longest-reigning Miss World in history. She is the fourth woman from Jamaica to have won the title.

Miss World is the oldest international beauty pageant. Women from around the globe will compete for the title in a matter of 3 days. After 2019, the pageant will take place directly in 2021 and is much awaited by national as well as international audiences. Best wishes to Manasa Varanasi and the other participants!

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who recently shocked everyone by breaking his alliance with BJP, has expanded his cabinet on August 16. Kumar has inducted 30 ministers from the Grand Alliance.

All the ministers were sworn into the Bihar cabinet on Tuesday. Reports said Nitish Kumar has retained the home department and the Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has been inducted in health, urban housing and development, road construction, and other rural works. Tejashwi’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav has been given the responsibility for the environment, forestry, and climate change.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will conduct a meeting with all the ministers at 4:30 pm today.

Pahalgam: ITBP bus carrying 39 personnel falls down in river

A major accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday when a bus carrying 37 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawans along with 2 J&K policemen fell into the riverbed after a reported brake failure.

Seven ITBP jawans have lost their lives in this incident while others have received serious injuries. Eight of these shoulders with serious injuries have been airlifted for medical treatment to Srinagar while others are being treated at a hospital in Anantnag.

The security forces were returning from Amarnath Yatra duty when the unfortunate accident took place. The ITBP bus fell into the river bed of a river which flows between Pahalgam and Chandanwari. The bus was on its way from Chandanwari to the police control room in Srinagar.

Two jawans reportedly died on spot while other five later succumbed to their injuries. However, the death toll could rise further, if immediate action would not have been taken. Around 6 more Indo-Tibetan Border Police are in critical condition. A Border Security Force (BSF) helicopter was sent for the rescue efforts.

Mukesh Ambani and family receive threat calls, Mumbai Police detains one

A man has been detained in the Dahisar area in the western suburbs of Mumbai. He has been arrested on the grounds of his alleged connection to the threat calls.

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family have received three threat calls today on August 15. Reportedly, the calls were made on the number of Reliance Foundation’s Harskisandas Hospital on Monday around 10:30 am.

The complaint was filed at the DB Marg police stations and their team is trying to get more information about the same. However, in the official statement given by the Mumbai Police, “the complaint filed by the Reliance Foundation states that three threat calls were made to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family and the probe is underway.”

And soon after the complaint was filed, a latest update suggests that a man has been detained in the Dahisar area in the western suburbs of Mumbai. The man has been arrested on the grounds of his alleged connection to the threat calls.

However, this is not for the first time that, Mukesh Ambani and his family have received threat calls. Even last year, a Scorpio car with 20 explosive gelatin sticks along with a threat letter was found outside Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani ‘Antilia’.

Soon after the police were informed, a team of cops including Mumbai’s crime intelligence unit headed by Sachin Vaze, who also took over as the lead investigator of the case, had reached Antilia for investigation.

As per reports, later the case was handed over to NIA after a mysterious death case took over the headlines. The victim was none other than the Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiren.

For the unversed, Hiren was the owner of the Scorpio car that was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence. Earlier, the late businessman had claimed that the car was stolen a week ago.
