NEET Counselling 2021

Medical Counselling Committee, MCC, will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET Counselling. MCC has issued an important notice for Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate counselling dates.

According to the issued notice, NEET Counselling for both UG and PG courses will now be conducted in four rounds. These four rounds will be as follows- AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-Up round, followed by AIQ Stray Vacancy round. AIQ refers to All India Quota seats.

This counselling process was earlier divided into three rounds. The change in this format is the result of an order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 16 December 2021 in Special Leave to Appeal (C) No(s).10487/2021. Details of this change can also be found on the official website of MCC.

In MCC’s notice, it is also stated that after AIQ Round 2 is completed, no AIQ seats will be returned to the respective states. The updates can also be found on the official website of MCC. This information has also been updated in the Information Bulletins on NEET UG counselling and NEET PG counselling.

UG Counselling will be conducted in the following institutions and universities-

All India Quota seats MBBS/ BDS Seats of States (participation of the Union Territory of J&K is subject to their contribution of seats) (15%), MBBS/BDS Seats of BHU (100%), MBBS Seats of AIIMS across India (100%), JIPMER seats (Puducherry/ Karaikal) (100%), AMU (100%), State Quota seats of DU/ I.P University (VMMC/ ABVIMS/ESIC Dental) (85%), Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Milia Islamia) along with 5% internal Quota of Jamia students (100%) and IP quota seats of ESIC (15%).

PG Counselling will be conducted in the following institutions and universities-

All India Quota seats of all states (participation of the Union Territory of J&K is subject to their contribution of seats) (15%), (All India Quota seats + Institutional Quota seats) of Central Universities (Aligarh Muslim University/ Banaras Hindu University/ University of Delhi/ Central Institutes as per eligibility conditions as provided by the respective college/institute (100%), seats of Deemed Universities (100%), AIQ P.G seats of colleges under Employee State Insurance Corporation (wards of ESIC insured persons) (100%) and only registration part for Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

A lot of backlashes is being directed towards the delay in NEET Counselling 2021. The reason for this indefinite delay for UG and PG courses is a Supreme Court case on EWS (Economically Weaker Section) and OBC (Other Backward Class) in AIQ. The case is still underway.
