[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]PCB sent legal notification to BCCI claiming compensation of about Rs 387 crore

Sports minister Vijay Goyal said on Monday that the government will not allow any bilateral cricket to be played between India and Pakistan till the time “cross-border terrorism” does not stop.

The statement comes in the backdrop of a meeting between the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board in Dubai wherein both are expected to discuss the future of Indo-Pak cricket.

This meeting has remained suspended since 2012 due to diplomatic tensions after terror attacks in India.

“BCCI should speak to the government before giving any proposal to Pakistan. I have made it clear that bilateral cricket with Pakistan is not possible till the time there is cross-border terror. We have, however, no say on multilateral events [ICC tournaments],” said Goel.

PCB has reportedly sent a legal notification to BCCI claiming the compensation of Rs 387 crore (approx) from India for not abiding with the MoU signed between the two boards in 2014 to play six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023.

Pakistan was supposed to host four of those series.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Chaudhary, joint secretary of BCCI, said the bilateral series with Pak is only possible if the centre agrees.

“But everything depends on whether the government gives the clearance. The series will not be possible without approval from the government,” Chaudhary said.

Goel had said that no Pakistan sportsperson will be allowed to play against India except in a neutral venue and in a multilateral tournament, such as the ICC Champions Trophy in which India play Pakistan in their opener on June 4.
