Uttarakhand: 25 people die in Pauri Garhwal bus accident

At least 25 people died and several others were injured in a bus accident at the Birokhal area of Dhumakot in Uttarakhand on Tuesday night. Reports said that the bus carrying 45 to 50 people fell into a gorge at Simdi village of Pauri Garhwal district.

Deputy General of Police Ashok Kumar said that 25 people were found dead in the bus accident that took place last night in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot. Police and SDRF rescued 21 people overnight; the injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

The Uttarakhand Police also informed on Twitter that six people were admitted to the Birokhal hospital and one injured has been referred to the Kotdwar.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams mobilised for the accident spot. They tried their best to take all the facilities to the accident spot. Local villagers were helping in the rescue operations.

Haridwar SP City said that a wedding procession had left in a bus from here, Laldhang; an accident occurred. Information was being taken from the family members. A rescue operation was underway by Pauri Police and SDRF at the spot.

In a separate incident, at least 10 people died and several others were missing after an avalanche at Draupadi’s Danda-2 mountain peak on Monday morning. Reports said that the avalanche had trapped at least 28 of 170 trainee mountaineers of Uttarakhand’s Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.

The principal of the institute confirmed that 10 bodies have been recovered and 18 were missing out of 28 persons stranded after an avalanche. According to the local media reports, the avalanche hit the team at 9 am at an altitude of 16000 feet.

Journalist Manjeet Negi wrote that the avalanche struck them around 8 am today. The incident has taken place 50 km away from Uttarkashi. The mountaineers were part of the NIM expedition to Daruapadi ka Danda mountain peak.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three out of four seats in Delhi University elections.

The University of Delhi on Saturday announced the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election results. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three out of four central panel posts in the elections while the National Students Union (NSUI) bagged the Vice-President Post.

Tushar Dedha from the ABVP has secured the President post whereas the Vice President post has been won by Abhi Dahiya of NSUI. Aparajita, an ABVP candidate won the Secretary post in the DUSU elections. Sachin Baisla from ABVP has won the panel post of Joint Secretary.

ABVP supporters celebrated the win as their organisation won three central panel posts in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections.

PM Modi lays foundation stone of International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi, Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, others present on occasion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23 laid the foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi’s Ganjari, Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present for the occasion in Varanasi.  

Varanasi, PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency also witnessed big names from the cricket fraternity on the occasion. The names include Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Madan Lal, Gundappa Viswanath, and Gopal Sharma.

Roger Binny, BCCI President and Vice President Rajiv Shukla and Secretary Jay Shah were also present for the event in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi also reached Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre where he participated in the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023.

PM Modi also inaugurated 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya built across Uttar Pradesh, during the programme.  

The Varanasi International Cricket Stadium is a step towards realising PM Modi’s vision to develop a modern and world-class sports infrastructure.

As per the reports, the International Cricket Stadium will be built in Ganjari, Rajatalab. This will be developed at the cost of Rs 450 crore and will be in more than 30 acres of area.

It has been revealed that the world-class stadium will take inspiration from Lord Shiva for its thematic architecture. The designs will be developed for crescent-shaped roof covers, trident-shaped floodlights and ghat steps-based seating arrangements for the attendees.

According to the government statement, the total capacity of the stadium to accommodate people will be 30,000 spectators.

To provide the best quality education, 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya, which is basically built for the children of labourers, construction workers and those orphaned due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was also inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The project has been developed at the cost of Rs 1,100 crore with an aim to make quality education accessible for these children and support their holistic development.

After distributing the two-wheeler, Gandhi could be seen taking a ride pillion on a girl’s scooter and surrounded by other female students riding the scooter.

The video of Rahul Gandhi taking a ride pillion on a girl’s scooter has been shared widely on the internet.

Earlier in May this year, Rahul Gandhi took a joyride on a delivery boy’s scooter in Bengaluru as he hopped in the man’s two-wheeler and rode pillion.

In a video that was widely shared on the internet, the Gandhi scion, who was campaigning for the Congress ahead of the May 10 elections in Karnataka, was seen surrounded by a large crowd of supporters and party workers in the heart of Bengaluru city.

The former Wayanad MP then stops to console a little boy who apparently became emotional after meeting Gandhi and in the meantime a delivery man stops near the Congress leader as he’s comforting the kid.

Then, in the spur of the moment, Rahul Gandhi hops on the man’s scooter and puts on a helmet as the two slowly ride through the swarm of the leader’s supporters.

According to reports, Rahul Gandhi rode a pillion with the delivery agent for nearly 2 kms before he dropped the former Congress chief at his hotel.

The videos of Rahul Gandhi’s spontaneous scooter ride with the delivery agent went viral on social media with users appreciating the Congress scion’s down-to-earth style of connecting with people.

In another video, Rahul was also seen with the truck drivers on foreign soil and rode from Washington DC to New York with truck driver Taljinder Singh. During the 190-km long journey, the Congress leader and the truck driver exchanged their views regarding the working conditions of Indian and American truck drivers.
