After the refusal of the Congress party to the invitation to the Pran Pratishtha event in Ayodhya on 22nd January, citing it as a BJP-RSS event, a minister in the Congress government of Himachal Pradesh, Vikramaditya Singh indicated that he would attend the Ram Temple consecration as it was his moral obligation.

He hailed the Rashtraya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for inviting him to the ceremony and called it a once in a lifetime opportunity. He said he was blessed to be one of the few people in Himachal Pradesh who have received an invitation for the Ram Temple consecration ceremony.

Vikramaditya Singh said he will be attending the Pran Prathishtha event at Ram Mandhir not as a politician, but as the late Virbhadhra Singh’s son, calling his father a devout follower of Lord Ram. He said it is my moral responsibility as his son to attend the ceremony. He asked how could he refuse his putra-dharam (son’s duty)?

Talking to the media Singh said he is a dedicated Congress worker who is loyal to its ideology. He said he wants to clarify that he opposes the RSS-VHP, BJP’s ideology of a Hindu Rashtra and their polarization policies. The Congress party has publicly denied an invitation to Ram temple consecration event, referring to it as a BJP-RSS event. The Ram temple has invited Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Loka Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and other opposition leaders.

A statement issued by senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS/BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya. The inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has obviously been brought forward for electoral gain.

Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed Pitroda for his controversial remarks and said he is from the North East and he looks like an Indian. He added that India is a diverse country where everyone may look different but everybody is one.  He advised the Congress leader to understand a little about India.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also criticized Sam Pitroda and said that these were racist comments by a man who is the guru of Rahul Gandhi.  He said it is the words and thinking of Rahul Gandhi only because these days Rahul is also playing the politics of divide and rule to such an extent that first they divide on caste and language lines and now they are doing Indians Vs Indians.

Poonawalla further added that to make comments like Indians are like Chinese shows Pitroda’s racist mindset which is insulting to the very idea of India. The BJP spokesperson said such racist comments by the Congress leader show that Congress’ Mohabbat ki dukaan actually has Nafrat ka saaman. He said that unless Congress gives a complete explanation and sacks Sam Pitroda, such controversial remarks should be taken as the statement of the Congress.

BJPs Mandi Lok Sabha seat candidate Kangana Ranaut slammed the Congress leader for his racist remarks and said, Sam Pitroda is Rahul Gandhi’s mentor. She said everyone should listen to his racist & divisive jibes for Indians. She said Congress’s ideology is about divide & rule. She said it is sickening to call fellow Indians Chinese and African and the Congress should be ashamed of leaders like Sam Pitroda.

In his Telangana rally, the PM Modi said Gandhi has a habit of sparking controversies in election season and recounted how he had taken up the issue of alleged corruption in the Rafale aircraft deal ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Prime Minister’s counter strike is significant because Gandhi has repeatedly accused the Modi government of favouring top industrialists. The Congress leader has also said that while the BJP government has made 22 Indians billionaires, the Congress aims to make crores of people lakhpati if it comes to power in the ongoing Lok sabha elections.
