 Every year, the 26th of January is celebrated with tremendous zeal across the country. The major event of the Republic Day celebration, also known as the Gantantra Diwas procession, takes place on Rajpath in New Delhi. This year, India marks its 73rd Republic Day.

Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26th January 2022. It is the day when India’s constitution came into force after a long struggle for independence from British colonial rule. Today, India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day. This year, the theme of Republic Day is India@75 to honour 75 years of independence.

The historic birth of the Indian Republic was marked with a 21-gun salute and the unfurling of the Indian National Flag by Dr Rajendra Prasad. On this day, ceremonial parades are held on the Rajpath as a homage to India, its diversity and rich cultural legacy.

Essay 1

Republic Day is considered a national day of importance and is celebrated every year on the 26th of January. Republic Day is celebrated because India got its Constitution on this day. A committee was formed after a few days when India got its Independence on the 15th of August. And on 29th August, a constituent assembly was formed. Dr B.R. Ambedkar became the first chairperson of this committee.

The handwritten copies of the Constitution were signed by the members of the constituent assembly in January 1950. After two days, on 26th January 1950, it was announced as Republic Day. There is also another historical significance of this day as Jawaharlal Nehru was appointed as the President of the Indian National Congress and also ‘Poorna Swaraj’ was declared.

Republic Day is of great historical importance to the country. On the 26th of January, 1950, the nation first implemented the Constitution. Jawarharlal Nehru was elected President of the Indian National Congress, and Poorna Swaraj or Independence day was declared on the 26th of January, 1930. However, in the real sense, we got Independence on the 15th of August, 1947. Due to the historical importance of the day, the 26th of January was declared Republic Day.

From the 26th of January, 1950, India celebrated its Republic day on that day. The day is declared a national holiday. On the occasion of Republic Day, the President of the country hoists the National Flag, following which the national anthem is sung. There are celebrations held at the Rajpath near the India Gate in the country. All the states and union territories of the country have beautiful tableau’s. There are international guests and speakers invited for the Republic Day celebrations. People from all over the country visit the Capital to witness the Republic Day Parade. The Republic Day celebrations are live telecast on the national channel of the country.

Republic Day is considered a national festival and is celebrated every year on the 26th of January. It is an important day for the country’s citizens because we got our Constitution on this day. When India got its Independence on the 15th of August, a committee was formed a few days later. On the 29th of August, a constituent assembly was formed, and it was appointed with the duty of forming the Constitution for the country. Dr B.R.Ambedkar was appointed as the chairperson for this committee. It took the constituent assembly two years, eleven months, and eighteen days to form the Constitution.

In January 1950, the Constitution’s handwritten copies were signed by the members of the constituent assembly. After two days, on the 26th of January,1950, it was declared Republic Day. There is a lot of historical importance related to this day. Poorna Swaraj was announced in the country on this day in 1930. It was the same day that Jawarharlal Nehru was appointed as the President of the Indian National Congress.

Even though the INC declared Independence Day in 1930, India for Independence from the British after 17 years, on the 15th of August,1947, therefore, the 15th of August was celebrated as Independence Day and the 26th of January as Republic Day. Republic Day is marked with a lot of happiness and patriotism for the country.
