Unimpressed by RRR and KGF Chapter 2’s success, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui says people go with the trend

Nawazuddin Siddiqui believes that the audience goes with the trend. Now they are rooting for South Indian films and sooner they’ll hold on to another Bollywood film. Hence there’s nothing as downfall of Bollywood.

In the last couple of months, several South Indian or ‘Pan-India’ films have become blockbusters at the box office and have forced the mainstream filmmakers to think again. Monstrous projects like Pushpa, RRR and KGF Chapter 2 have smashed all the records and questioned those who believed that Bollywood is the big daddy of entertainment industry in India.

Where several Bollywood actors believe that the success of RRR and KGF Chapter 2 has send chills down the spine of Hindi film industry. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui seems to be unimpressed with the success of recent South-Indian films, and rather has a distinguish take on this debate.

Nawaz, who started his career in Hindi film industry with small-budgeted indie movies, has now marked his entry in commercial space as well. During the promotion of his film Heropanti 2, when the actor was asked about the reason behind the downfall of Bollywood, Nawazuddin had a rather different opinion.

The Gangs of Wassepur actor said that at the end of the day, it’s the audience who makes or breaks a film. Today might be the world is loving South-Indian action-drama but as soon as they catch another interesting Bollywood film, they will start hailing it. The actor concluded by saying that the audience now-a-days goes by the trend. He said that when any film does well everyone joins in and probably praises it more than the movie deserves. Similarly, if a movie isn’t a hit, then people criticise it more than the film deserves.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui believes that it has become a fashion now that if one South-Indian film impresses the audience then will look forward to the next one too. Same way now if a Bollywood film does great at box office, then all the talks will change. So, at the end of the day, it’s all in the trend.

Another brilliant aspect brought to notice by the Gangs of Wassepur actor was that, it has been a bit disappointing for Nawaz, as he expected the audience to have a larger and better take on movie after lockdown. Talking about the same he said, “It’s disappointing as I thought during the lockdown, the audience had lot of time to see to witness different creative works from all across the work on several streaming platforms. But seems like the when the theatres were open the audience just wanted to see the same masala movies as usual and didn’t care much about the story or script.”
