Two goods trains were involved in a head-on collision near the Sultanpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh during the early hours of Thursday morning resulting damage to engines of both the locomotives.

As per reports, a pilot of one of the trains sustained injuries while eight coaches were derailed after two goods trains collided head-on near Sultanpur Junction today morning. Officials said that the mishap occurred because both trains arrived on the same track near the Sultanpur Junction’s southern cabin.

Railway officials informed that the Lucknow-Varanasi and Ayodhya-Prayagraj railway tracks have been disrupted and both routes have been affected.

Reports said that senior railway officials have reached the spot and track is being cleared, adding that engines of both locomotives have sustained damage in the collision.

In a similar mishap, six coaches of the Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Godavari express derailed near Hyderabad in Telangana’s Bibinagar on early Wednesday morning, leaving many passengers stranded.

According to reports, six coaches– S1- S4, GS and SLR– of Train No. 12727 (Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad) Godavari Express was derailed between Bibinagar to Ghatkesar.

However, officials said that no casualties were reported, adding that passengers were cleared by the same train by detaching the derailed coaches.

As per reports, the train was running behind schedule by half an hour and was travelling at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour when the coaches were derailed, startling the passengers onboard.

Reports quoting sources said that some passengers sustained minor injuries and were in shock due to the abrupt derailment, however, no casualties or major injuries have been reported.

On February 2, five bogies of the Satyagraha Express train detached from the engine near Majhaulia station in Bettiah in Bihar. Miraculously, however, all the passengers escaped unscathed and no injuries were reported.

According to reports, the incident happened at the Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj railway section, triggering panic among passengers.

A team of East Central Railway officials immediately rushed to the spot and reattached the separated bogies to the train running from Bihar’s Raxaul district to New Delhi. As per officials, the coupling used to connect two bogies together malfunctioned resulting in bogies getting separated from the engine.

Similarly, three bogies of a goods train derailed at the Tankuppa station in Bihar due to which two trains were cancelled and several more had to be diverted in December last year. Railway officials at the time said the accident happened because the brakes on the train got jammed.

No injuries were reported in the mishap.

The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar on Wednesday, went to inaugurate a ‘digital library’ in Banka district where he noticed the language of the signboard of the newly established ‘digital library’ and asked the officials to change the signboard as the information was written in the English language.

CM Kumar said he respects the English language but  Hindi is a part of the tradition. He further schooled the officials saying you are ending the importance of the Hindi language, adding that it is our language. Officials present at the moment were asked to change the board by CM Kumar.

In March, Kumar made headlines for ridiculing a farmer who used English words in his speech at an event, demonstrating his consistent disapproval of the use of English in public settings.

Nitish Kumar reminded the farmer that using smartphones during COVID-19 was causing people to distance themselves from their own language in Bharat, Bihar.

Look at what has happened to people. They are distancing themselves from their language, Kumar interrupted, when people learn words through smartphones. Is it England, Kumar questioned the farmer. Your language should be used since you have been conversing with farmers in Bihar and Bharat, Nitish Kumar said.

As per the reports, the Chief Minister of Bihar carried out unannounced inspections at several government offices and discovered that a considerable number of ministers from his cabinet were missing in action. The observations revealed that while the majority of the ministers belonging to his party, JD(U), were present, a significant number of ministers from his alliance party, RJD, were found to be absent, the reports added.

According to reports, the development occurred amidst speculations that CM Kumar may switch alliances and join the BJP.

During the G20 event, the Prime Minister cordially introduced Nitish Kumar to none other than the esteemed US President Joe Biden.

It was worth noting that this was the initial encounter between PM Modi and Nitish Kumar following the latter’s party, JD(U), ending its affiliation with the BJP last year. Instead, they joined the Mahagathbandhan and formed a government with RJD and other opposition parties.
