Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently serving as a commentator in IPL 2022, was quick to comment on Lucknow Super Giants KL Rahul’s trademark century celebration and urged him to accept rather than block the applause.

Rahul had brought up his century in the 19th over of the innings against Mumbai on Saturday and he then celebrated in his trademark shutting the outside noise style, covering his ears with his fingers.

Reacting to LSG skipper, Gavaskar however said that he does not understand the reason behind celebrating in this way when you have scored a century.

Speaking with IPL official broadcaster Star Sports during the mid-innings break, Gavaskar said he is shutting down the noise when he is got a hundred instead of receiving applause. He should do this when he has scored four, five, six runs but when he got a hundred take it out and enjoy the applause everybody is applauding him.

On his 100th IPL match, the Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul hit 103 not out off 60 balls to lead his team to an 18-run victory against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. He scored a brilliant century after surviving 20 overs on the crease. As a result, LSG went on to the target of 199.

With a boundary against Tymal Mills in the last over, he brought up his century and celebrated with his trademark’s the outside’ noise gesture. He removed his helmet and acknowledged the applause from the crowd at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. He then came up with his trademark celebration with both his hands near his ears and eyes closed. His celebration resembles shutting down the outside noise and criticism.

It was also Rahul’s third IPL century and second three-figure score as the captain of an IPL squad. After Virat Kohli, the LSG captain is now only the second player to lead a team to multiple IPL centuries. He has become only the second player after Virat Kohli to lead a team to numerous IPL centuries.

Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar suffered an unfortunate injury during Pakistan vs England 6th T20I in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Friday as Haider Ali rammed a pull shot straight into him.

In the last over of the powerplay, Richard Gleeson bowled a short delivery and young Pakistan batter Haider Ali smacked a pull shot straight into the back thigh of umpire Aleem Dar who jumps and turned to get out of the way but failed

Initially, Dar, who was the leg umpire in the sixth over of the match, thought it was coming at his face but then the bowl dipped.

It was a lucky escape for Dar. Despite the blow, he remained lighthearted and was able to continue umpiring through the match.

Pakistan Cricket Board has shared the video of Aleem Dar’s failed attempt to save himself from the pull shot of Haidar Ali. The video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video of the incident, Dar can be seen brushing the pain aside with a sheepish smile on his face as play carried on as normal.

It was not the first time Aleem Dar had been hit by a ball. In Abu Dhabi T10 League, last year, Dar had been injured after a ball was thrown by an outfielder that hit the back of his head during the match between Chennai Braves and Northern Warriors.

Riding Phil Salt’s 88 off 41, Alex hales’ 27 off 12 and Ben Duckett’s 26 off 16, England finished the match in the 15th over to set up a series decider on Sunday.

Batting first, who was 3-2 up in the seven-match series, lost the wickets of debutant Mohammad Haris and Shan Masood early in the powerplay.

Pakistan put a total of 169 with help of skipper Babar Azam’s one man show.

T20 World Cup 2022: Mohammed Siraj replaces Jasprit Bumrah after the pacer suffered stress fracture

The second T20 match between India and South Africa will be played on October 2 at Guwahati.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee from BCCI has named Mohammed Siraj as the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah on Friday for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to give the official announcement. The board also gave an update on Bumrah’s health and said that Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.

This has come to be a huge blow for India as their best pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who just made a come back after four months in the India vs Australia T20 Series, complained of niggle just before the first T20 match against South Africa and now the fast bowler has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 due to back stress fracture.

While an official confirmation from the Board of Control from Cricket in India is awaited, the signs have not been great as Bumrah pulled out of India’s series opener against South Africa and now Mohammed Siraj will replace the pacer for the ongoing T20 series against proteas.

For the unversed, Jasprit Bumrah had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to his back problem, and was training at the National Cricket Academy. However, he played the last two T20Is against Australia but has now against sustained a back injury.

This is a very huge loss for India has the return of Jassie had made the Indian bowling attack look a bit stronger as most if the bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel are dealing with luckless innings and poor form. The only hope for India is Harshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar at the moment. And Mohammed Shami, who’s place in the squad can add in a lot of experience and enthusiasm in the Indian bowling attack is still under scanner.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli left his fans overjoyed after he showed his video call with Anushka Sharma to his fans while leaving from Thiruvananthapuram after the Indian vs South Africa first T20I.

The video went viral after a fan captured Virat Kohli talking to Anushka Sharma while sitting in the bus as Team India was departing from Thiruvananthapuram for Guwahati, where the second T20I will be played.

What came out to be even more interesting and surprising was that while fans were cheering for Virat and Team India, and speculating that he’s talking to Anushka, Virat turned the phone screen towards fans and stamped the guess.

The fans outside the bus went crazy. This incident left the crowd jumping and shouting with happiness. Then again, Virat, with a big smile on his face turned the phone again towards the crowd and both Virat and Anushka were seen sharing a laugh over it.
