Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 final to retain their title. Star batsman Shahrukh Khan smashed a last-ball six to win it for Tamil Nadu. He went on to smash unbeaten 33 runs in just 15 balls, including 1 four and three sixes. Shahrukh won the man of the match award for his scintillating performance.

Vijay Shakar-led Tamil Nadu team won the toss and elected to field against Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 final. Earlier in 2020, Dinesh Karthik had led Tamil Nadu to the title. This is the third time (most) Tamil Nadu has won this tournament, also for the first time Karnataka has lost any final in the white-ball tournament.

After winning the match, Tamil Nadu star batsman Shahrukh Khan said that he felt very special after hitting the last ball six that he’ll remember it for a long time.

“There were a lot of things in my mind, but I tried to keep it simple. The ball was rough and the wicket was slow, so I wanted to connect it off the middle. I was waiting to hit it over long-on, and I got the room to get it over square leg,” said Shahrukh Khan after the match.

Tamil Nadu vs Karnataka

After being sent to bat first, the Karnataka team led by Manish Pandey posted a fighting total of 151-7 in 20 overs. Abhinav Manohar (46) and Praveen Dubey (33) were the only batsmen who brought some runs for their team, while Jagadeesha Suchit smashed a quickfire 18 runs in 7 balls.

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore was the star with the ball and took 3 wickets in his spell by just giving 12 runs.

Chasing the target of 152, Tamil Nadu started with a bang, scoring 29 runs in their first three overs, but lost the momentum and were 116-5 in 17.1 overs. Then came Shahrukh Khan, who went on to shatter the dream of Karnataka to win their third title.
