No masjid was burnt…: Tripura police say pics of burning mosque fake, legal action will be taken against those spreading rumours

Earlier, on Wednesday, the police said that some miscreants joined the VHP rally and they instigated the violence. The district superintendent of police Bhanupada Chakraborty told news agency PTI that VHP activists took out a rally to protest against the violence in Bangladesh.

A day after the pictures of a vandalised mosque in Tripura during a rally conducted by right-wing outfits started doing rounds on the internet, the Tripura police said that no masjid was burnt and said that the pictures and videos that are being circulated are all fake.

The police said that some people used fake social media IDs to spread fake news on Tripura. They further said that the law and order situation in the State is absolutely normal.

The Tripura Police further said that during yesterday’s protest rally in Panisagar, North Tripura, no masjid was burnt and the pictures that are being shared of burning or damaged masjid or collection of sticks and other things are all fake and are not from Tripura.

It was further mentioned that the Tripura police have registered cases and legal action will be taken against all those spreading fake news and communally sensitive rumours.

Adding further to that, the police said that some vested interests are trying to disturb the peaceful communal situation of Tripura. Tripura Police requests every citizen of Tripura to help them in maintaining law and order and peace in Tripura.

Tripura Police IGP Law and order Saurabh Tripathi told news agency ANI that fake news and rumours are being spread in regard to yesterday’s incident at Panisagar. No fire incident took place at any mosque. A case has been registered against the viral fake posts on social media platforms.

He further said that the videos & photos that are being spread have no connection with the Panisagar incident. No fire incident took place at any mosque.

However, later a group of people started throwing stones and damaged a door of a mosque in Chamtilla area during the rally. Security forces rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

At Rajghat, vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla offered floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, presented floral tributes at Rajghat and said Mahatma Gandhi is not just an individual, but an idea, an ideology, and the moral compass of our great nation.

The congress president shared a post on X, in which he saluted Bapu’s values and ideologies as he wrote, his ideals of truth, non-violence, freedom, equality and coexistence have eternal value. We bow in reverence to Bapu’s ideals on his Jayanti.

A day before Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi participated with fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya in participated in the Shramdaan for cleanliness campaign as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM modi shared a video of him doing the cleanliness work with the influnecer. Sharing the video he wrote, today, when the country focused on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and he did the same! Beyond only hygiene, they included wellness and fitness in the mix as well. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe.

PM Modi can be heard asking Ankit in the video that how the Swachhata mission will benefit his physical health. Ankit responds, it’s up to us to maintain our environment clean. They’ll stay in shape if it stays clean.

Ankit added that Sonipat’s residents have been emphasising hygiene.
