Video of 19-year-old boy

A video of a young boy jogging on the road at midnight is doing rounds on social media. The shine on the boy’s face stayed despite his face being drenched in sweat. When filmmaker and author Vinod Kapri saw him strolling down the road, he offered to drive him home, but despite many efforts, he politely declined.

Kapri is seen filming from his car as it rides alongside the young boy, who claims to be on his way home from a McDonald’s shift. Mehra, despite being offered a lift, insisted on running home because he doesn’t get time to run otherwise.

Why was this boy running?

A 19-year-old Pradeep Mehra lives in Barola. He runs 10kms every day from his workplace to his home in preparation for his aspiration of joining the army. Pradeep works in McDonalds’ Noida Sector 16 branch. He hails from the Almora district of Uttarakhand. Mehra stated that he lives with his elder brother and his mother is in the hospital when Kapri asked who he lives with.

On being asked multiple times by Kapri to drop him off at his place, Mehra said it is nothing new for him as he runs every day on his way back home because he doesn’t have much time to practice running. When Kapri asked him why he doesn’t run in the morning, he stated that he has to wake up early and reach his workplace at 8 am and cook food.

What did Pradeep Mehra say when Vinod Kapri offered to have dinner with him?

Kapri, who is still keeping up with Mehra, informs him that this video will become viral. In response, the runner laughs. “Who’s going to recognize me? It’s fine if it gets viral; it’s not like I’m doing anything wrong.”

When Kapri got to know he still plans to cook after reaching home after a tough race back, he offered to have dinner with him. “No, but my elder brother will go hungry,” Mehra responds, declining the filmmaker’s help yet again, explaining that his brother works at night shift and is unable to cook for himself at the moment.

“Pradeep, you’re amazing,” responds Kapri in awe.

In a last-ditch effort to persuade Mehra to rethink his decision, he adds, “Let me please drop you home.” This is my everyday routine, explains the determined 19-year-old, smiling as he refuses yet again.

The video has garnered over 4.8 million views, crossed 180,000 likes.
