Arunachal Pradesh News: Minister assures solution to boundary issue, Tawang to have toy train
AITF, AAPSU and various political parties to work as a team to find the solution to the interstate boundary issue, said home minister Bamang Felix, Tawang to get toy train, Northeast frontier Railway to build it
During a consultative meeting held at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre on Thursday, various political parties including the Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF) and the All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) resolved to work as a team to find a permanent solution to the interstate boundary issue between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix, the chairman of the High-Powered Ministerial Committee, said the consultative meeting is aimed at creating a roadmap that would guide the process of resolving the boundary issue with Assam. He appealed to the parties to rise above party lines and come together as Team Arunachal and appealed to all to ensure that peace is maintained throughout the process of resolving the boundary dispute. He stated committee would also convene a meeting after August 15 with district-level committees and would recommend the way forward based on Thursday’s consultative meeting. Later, the meeting accepted the committee’s proposal of taking the Supreme Court-appointed local committee’s recommendations as the baseline for working out an amicable and permanent solution to the boundary issue.
NF Railways to build Toy Train Project near Indo-China Border
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will build a toy train in Tawang, home to the world’s biggest Buddhist monastery outside Tibet. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu gave his nod to the project proposal during his meeting with NFR general manager Anshul Gupta on Thursday, a statement issued by CM office said. The toy train will be an added attraction in Tawang, situated at an elevation of approximately 3,048 metres in western Arunachal Pradesh, 448 km from state capital Itanagar and close to the Indo-China border.
The CM welcomed the proposal and suggested to NFR officials to coordinate with the district administration for logistical support and assured coordination from the state government. Gupta said that if the state government gives a green signal to it, the NF Railway would start the ground work immediately, he assured that once everything is settled, NFR will complete the project within six months. The NF Railway is already in the process of constructing a broad gauge railway line from Bhalukpong in the foothills to Tawang covering a distance of 378 km, of which about 80 per cent will pass through tunnels.

Arunachal Pradesh News: Additional responsibilities given to Governor, Student caught cheating, heavy rainfall expected
A press communiqué issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday said that the additional Responsibilities of Mizoram was given to Arunachal Pradesh Governor B D Mishra (retd). It stated that the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh will discharge the function in addition to his own duties during the absence of Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati.
Student caught cheating in RGUCET, RGUPET
Candidate’s appearing for the Rajiv Gandhi University Common Entrance Test (RGUCET) and the RGU PhD Entrance Test (RGUPET) have claimed that several candidates cheated using mobile phones inside the examination halls at various centres across the state. A candidate was reportedly caught using a mobile phone at Dera Natung Government College. Some candidates stated that they were not asked for their admit card or identification card. Reportedly, many candidates were allowed to bring their belongings, such as purses and bags to the exam halls. However, an invigilator said that they tried their best to perform their duties and the students should have informed them if they saw anyone’s cheating. Infuriated with the administrative failure of RGU, education Minister, Taba Tadir said that if the accusations are found to be true, the exams should be re-conducted for the deserving students. The RGUCET and the RGUPET are currently underway at various centers from 4 August and are expected to continue till 13 August.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya likely to witness widespread rainfall
The Northeast regions are expected to affect by the southerly moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal. Therefore, for the next several days some parts of northeast are likely to witness widespread rain with isolated heavy to very heavy falls. The total rainfall amassing is expected to reach 400 mm in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya for the next five days with some risks of mudslides, swollen rivers and flooding. The heaviest rain activity has been forecast from 27th August to 29th August.
