BJP seals alliance with Apna Dal (S) in UP

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) finalized seat-sharing deal with Apna Dal (Sonelal) ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier it was reported that Apna Dal (S) was not satisfied with BJP and had threatened to quit the National Democratic Alliance. Now Apna Dal (S) will be contesting on two seats.

Apna Dal (S) leader and Union Minister Anupriya Patel will contest from Mirzapur. The allies are yet to take decision on another seat.

“With the aim to bring back the Modi government, we will contest the national elections with Apna Dal in UP,” Shah tweeted.

Apna Dal(S) had won two seats in Uttar Pradesh: Pratapgarh and Mirzapur – in 2014 elections.

Anupriya Patel last month had accused the BJP of “not taking care of its allies”. “It appears they are not interested in taking care of their allies,” she had said. Her party was “free to take its own decisions” regarding the national elections, she had also quipped.

Apna Dal(S) President Ashish Patel, Anupriya’s husband held talks with Shah later to figure out differences. He had stressed on “appointment of Dalits” in police force in UP, among other issues, at a meeting last month.

“Our party demanded appointment of Dalits and people belonging to backward communities in 50 per cent police stations of the state, besides giving either DM or SP post in districts to these category officers. Our party workers should be considered in appointment in various state corporations,” he had said at that time, underlining the party’s concern that its suggestions were not being heeded by the BJP and it felt ignored.

Patel, in a tweet on Friday, thanked Shah and said the two parties had settled all the differences. “We will fight with all our might so that Narendra Modi can be elected again,” Patel said.

The Apna Dal (Sonelal) is a breakaway faction of the Apna Dal, which was founded in 1995 by Sone Lal Patel. The Apna Dal (Sonelal) was founded by Jawahar Lal Patel, who was also a founding member of the Apna Dal. The Apna Dal has claimed support among the non-OBC communities such as the Kurmis.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was addressing a rally in Assam’s Dhubri on Wednesday where she said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not stop JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna from leaving India. She said PM Modi is far away from the reality of common people and has no understanding of their miseries as he has become egoistic.

This was not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi attacked PM Modi over the sex scandal. Earlier this week, she questioned PM Modi’s silence over the matter. Gandhi said Prajwal Revanna who stood along with PM Modi, for whom the prime minister asked for votes, has been accused of abusing thousands of women.  She added the numbers are staggering and asked Modi’s response over the matter. Gandhi said she was keen to hear what the Union home minister had to say on the matter.

Priyanka Gandhi recollected that a few days earlier she had travelled abroad to visit her daughter. She said the Prime Minister and Home Minister are constantly discussing her overseas trips. She said they are well aware about when she is going to travel and are even keeping track of opposition leaders’ travels. Yet, when an accused, someone like him Prajwal Revanna, leaves the country, they claim ignorance. How can anyone accept this? She said the matter has slipped away right under their noses after committing such a grave offence, and yet they remain silent.

The Congress leader also alleged there was a mafia raj in BJP-ruled Assam. She also attacked Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. She said there have been very serious charges against Himanta Biswa Sarma when he was in the Congress party. As soon as he changed sides to BJP, all charges against him were dropped. Gandhi further added the BJP has developed a washing machine where corrupt people are put and the Assam CM was the first one in this regard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed in Alladurg, Telangana’s Sangareddy district, on Tuesday. During the rally PM claimed that if Congress comes to power, they will bring out inheritance tax. Since the Lok Sabha voting date schedule was revealed, this is PM Modi’s second visit to the state.

During the rally, PM Modi slammed Congress and said, when the whole world was progressing, India was suffering from policy paralysis under Congress government. He also said black money collected through Double R tax in Telangana is going to Delhi. Congress government in Telangana did not fulfill promise of loan waiver even 100 days after coming to power, says PM Modi.

The PM continued saying that the Congress had planned to collect 55% as inheritance tax, if it comes to power.

PM Modi at Telangana rally also took a jibe at former Chief Minister led-BRS party and said first it was that party which looted Telangana and now it is Congress.

For the BJP, Telangana is a crucial southern state in terms of strategy, since the party wants to gain a sizable number of seats in order to move closer to its lofty goal of 370 Lok Sabha seats. Amit Shah, the home minister, had earlier stated that Telangana should win ten seats out of a total of 17.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah will launch his campaign on May 1 in an effort to increase support for Madhavi Latha, the BJP’s candidate in Hyderabad, who is running against the sitting member of the legislature, Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM.

The BJP won four seats in Telangana in the previous 2019 elections. All candidates fielded by the party were from their respective constituencies, with the exception of Soyam Bapurao (Adilabad).

Along with National General Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar (Karimnagar), Nizamabad MP D Arvind, and BJP Telangana leader and Union minister G Kishan Reddy, who is running from Secunderabad, they have already begun strong campaigns in their respective electoral division.
