Mumbai: High Court grants bail to former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh

Maharashtra’s Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been granted bail in the corruption and extortion case. Reportedly, Anil Deshmukh is undergoing treatment at Sewar Jaslok Hospital and hence, Justice Makarand S Karnik approved his bail.

However, the bail granted is for the case filed by the Enforcement Directorate, which simply means that Anil Deshmukh will remain in custody now only in the CBI case. He was arrested in November last year by the ED and subsequently by the CBI in the 100 crore recovery case.

The Bombay High Court has granted him the bail and said that the allegations were made in the ED case without proof. In this case, after registering the crime in 2021, in April 2022, Anil Deshmukh was arrested illegally. Parambir Singh and Sachin Vajhe tried to implicate Deshmukh in front of the court through tactics, Deshmukh’s lawyer Vikram Chowdhary gave this information through the media.

Reportedly, after High Court granted bail to Anil Deshmukh, CBI told the court that it would approach the Supreme Court against the bail. For this, the CBI demanded a 10-day adjournment or decision. Hearing the opinion and postponing the decision, the bail was granted but Deshmukh will not be freed from prison.

Since Anil Deshmukh’s treatment has started, he is not in Arthur Road Prison, but in Jaslok Hospital. The Supreme Court upheld the judgment of the Bombay High Court and Deshmukh is said to be released from prison immediately.

Chhagan Bhujbal, the former cabinet minister of the state and a nationalist leader, gave his reaction today, on Sharad Pawar’s birthday. He said that they have been waiting for the petition for the last several months. And now that the bail has been granted, they’ll look for what to do next.

Revanth Reddy accuses BRS, BJP of maintaining ‘bond’, stalling development of Telangana

Published

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the BRS and BJP of maintaining a “bond” and attacked former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for spreading “canards” against the Congress government and creating “hurdles” for the development of the state.

Launching a campaign in support of party candidate for the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll, V Naveen Yadav, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that Kishan Reddy was stalling development of Hyderabad by obstructing expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project and Musi rejuvenation project.

“The BJP leaders are maintaining secret relations with BRS. The BJP’s victory in eight Lok Sabha seats (during 2024 polls) was evidence for it. Did the two Union ministers (Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar) bring any funds to the state,” he asked on Friday.

He charged that the BJP MPs are canvassing in Jubilee Hills without asking for funds from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of Telangana.

Stating that the Congress has taken up development projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Secunderabad Cantonment after the party won the by-election there, the CM appealed to the Jubilee Hills voters to support the Congress candidate Naveen Yadav.

“It is high time for development of the constituency and not the sentiment. It will be a historic mistake if the Congress nominee is not voted to win the by-election,” he said.

Revanth Reddy also hit out at BRS Working President KT Rama Rao for not taking care of Jubilee Hills during his tenure as the Municipal Administration and Urban development minister for 10 years.

“The then (BRS) rulers looted the state and never visited Jubilee Hills to address the public grievances,” he further alleged.

The chief minister also questioned the BJP for raising objections to inducting former cricketer and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin as a minister in his Cabinet.

“Why is the BJP so upset after Azharuddin is given a ministerial post,” he asked.

Revanth Reddy said that he will take the responsibility of the development of Jubilee Hills with the support of Azharuddin and Naveen Yadav soon after the by-elections.

The high-stakes bypoll to Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency here would take place on November 11, with votes to be counted on November 14.

The bypoll is necessitated by the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June this year, following a heart attack.

Kumar said his government has taken several measures for the empowerment of women, the weaker section of society, Dalits, and backward classes.

“And these efforts will continue further…Therefore, you must give another chance to the NDA for continuation of the development measures taken by the double-engine government with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji”, he said.

He also urged people to once again vote for the NDA in the assembly polls to make a ‘Vikshit Bihar’.
