Nitish Kumar meets Lalu Yadav

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who recently shocked everyone by breaking his alliance with BJP, has met the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav for the first time after forming a new government in Bihar with the help of RJD.

In JDU-RJD’s first reunion in Bihar after forming Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, Nitish Kumar told the reporters that they were together and will stay together.

Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav, who was the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate in 2020 Assembly Elections, was with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar when the two Bihar stalwarts met again after nearly 5 years of acrimony.

After ending his ties with the BJP, last week, Kumar staked a claim to form a government with the RJD. He had last spoken with Lalu Yadav just before his August 10 oath ceremony.

Earlier on August 10, Nitish Kumar took oath as Bihar CM with help of Lalu Yadav’s RJD after breaking up with the BJP. While Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav had also sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

Lalu Yadav’s RJD has 16 ministries while Nitish Kumar’s JDU has kept 11 in Bihar’s new cabinet which was formed on Tuesday. A total of 31 ministers have been inducted in the state’s new cabinet.

Reacting to his party’s senior MLA Bima Bharti’s exclusion in new cabinet on Thursday, Kumar said he cannot make everyone a minister every time. She was upset at not being made a minister while her party colleague, Leshi Singh, is in the cabinet again.

Bharti had also been a minister twice. This kind of behaviour isn’t done. The party will speak with her calmly. If she understands, fine. Or else, if she has thought of going here or there, she may consider that, Kumar told the reporters.
