Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a rally in the poll-bound state Nagaland. and slammed the Congress for not giving importance to the state.

In the presence of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, PM Modi attacked the opposition and hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for working towards the development of Nagaland.

Addressing the rally, PM Modi said there is a wave of development and a sense of trust in Nagaland as the BJP and NDPP have a huge support in the state in terms of developing the northeast.

PM Modi continued that the NDA is continuously striving to bring permanent peace in Nagaland so that Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 can be lifted completely from the state.

He said the country cannot be run by distrusting its citizens but by respecting and solving their issues. Applauding the BJP, PM Modi said the party does not discriminate people on the basis of religion or region and it has transformed Nagaland into divine governance and not politics of divide.

Slamming the Congress and its leaders, PM Modi said the party never worked for developing Nagaland and never gave importance to stability and prosperity in the state. He further said the Congress ran the Nagaland government through remote control from Delhi and indulged in familial politics from the national capital to Dimapur.

He said Congress saw the North-East as an ATM and government’s money did not reach the public but the coffers of corrupt parties.

Nagaland Assembly Elections are scheduled for February 27 and a total of 183 candidates will fight for votes for 60 seats. In the 2018 assembly elections, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) won 26 seats, NDPP was at 17 seats and BJP at 12 seats.
