Congress leader Raja Pateria arrested

Congress leader Raja Pateria, who made the kill PM Modi if you want to save the constitution remark, was arrested from his house in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Pateria was in Hata, his hometown Damoh. The police arrested him from here. Police will present Pateria in JMFC Court Powai. Pateria had said in a meeting on December 11 that if you want to save the constitution, be ready to kill Modi, in the sense of defeating him.

The BJP attacked him for his statement. Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Monday gave instructions for FIR on Pateria. After this, a case was registered at Powai police station in Panna. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh said that the true spirit of the Congress has been revealed.

Pateria apologises, Congress may issue notice

However, Pateria apologised for his statement on Monday night. On the other hand, Congress can issue notice to him. Earlier Pateria had said that he was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and a Gandhiian cannot talk about killing someone. His video is being propagated in a wrong way, he clarified.

This statement of Pateria is of December 11. He was talking to workers at Mandalam in Panna district. Then he had said that Modi will finish the election. Modi will divide you on the basis of religion, caste, language. The future life of Dalits, tribals and minorities is in danger and if you want to save the constitution, then be ready to kill Modi. Murder in the sense… Be ready to defeat him, he was heard saying.

Congress makes distances from statement, Kamal Nath condemns Pateria

Former Congress Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that if there was even an iota of truth in the video, he strongly condemns such statements. Every worker of the Congress follows Gandhian principles of truth-non-violence. Sacrifice by following the path of non-violence is duty of Congressmen. It is now being said that the Congress may issue a notice to Pateria.

Pateria had issued controversial statements earlier as well

Around 10 months back, Raja Pateria had given a controversial statement. At that time, he had said to a policeman that it was wrong to remove the tribals in the area who were in possession of forest land before 2005 and were earning their livelihood by farming. Harassing tribals in this way, assaulting their women is legally wrong. A law has been passed in the Parliament that those tribals, who were in possession of forest land before 2005, would be given its patta.

He also said that this was the reason why Naxalism is flourishing in Bastar and Andhra Pradesh, because if the tribals do not get justice, they will be forced to take up arms.

Nirmala Sitharaman reviews AI cybersecurity risks in banking, calls for stronger safeguards

Nirmala Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a high-level meeting with bank heads and key stakeholders to assess cybersecurity risks linked to artificial intelligence (AI) in the banking sector.

The meeting comes amid global concerns over advanced AI models that could potentially expose vulnerabilities in financial systems. Authorities discussed how such technologies may be misused to exploit software weaknesses and compromise sensitive banking data.

Banks asked to strengthen cybersecurity frameworks

During the discussions, banks were advised to take pre-emptive measures to secure IT systems, protect customer data, and safeguard financial assets.

The government emphasised the need for robust cybersecurity infrastructure, including stronger monitoring systems and improved incident response protocols. Banks were also encouraged to enhance internal preparedness against evolving digital threats driven by AI technologies.

Focus on real-time threat intelligence sharing

A key takeaway from the meeting was the push to establish a real-time threat intelligence sharing mechanism between banks, regulatory bodies, and cybersecurity agencies such as CERT-In.

This system is expected to help identify emerging risks early and enable faster response across the financial ecosystem, reducing the chances of large-scale disruptions.

Concerns linked to advanced AI models

The review gains significance in light of concerns around advanced AI systems, including models that reportedly highlight vulnerabilities in widely used software environments.

Officials noted that while AI offers significant benefits, it also introduces new challenges, particularly in cybersecurity, requiring coordinated action across institutions.

Government adopts proactive approach

The meeting reflects the government’s broader strategy to stay ahead of technological risks while promoting digital growth.

With increasing adoption of AI in financial services, authorities are focusing on ensuring that innovation is matched with strong safeguards to maintain trust and stability in the banking system.
