Ajaz Patel takes 10 wickets in a test inning against India, tweeple say well bowled

Mumbai-born New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel on Saturday created history at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium after claiming 10 wickets in a single inning of a Test match.

Patel finished with record-breaking figures of 10/119 from 47.5 overs. As soon as he dismissed Siraj as his 10th wicket, tweeple were poured-in praise for Mumbai-born New Zealand spinner.

Former Indian spinner Anil Kumble has welcomed Ajaz for joining the perfect 10 wicket club and called it a special effort to achieve it on Day1 and 2 of a test match in his tweet.

With this, Ajaz becomes the third bowler to achieve such a big milestone after Jim Laker and Indian spinner Anil Kumble. He had dismissed Mohammed Siraj to complete a perfect 10-wicket haul on Day 2 of the second Test against India.

Praising Ajaz Patel, former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan tweeted that please don’t let any Indian go to any other country, best don’t even ask them.

In his tweet, sports commentator Jatin Sapru wrote If anybody had a doubt that Mumbai is the city of dreams, ask Ajaz Patel. A beautiful story which deserves this unforgettable chapter, he said.

Playing in India for the first time, the 33-year old, who had moved to New Zealand at the age of eight, turned it around for the visitors after a strong start by the Indian openers on Day 1.

Patel has not only did vary his pace but also used the crease well at Mumbai’s Wankhede pitch, which took some time to dry after two days of unseasonal rain.

India during the session didn’t score at a very quick rate as they put on only 64 runs in the 28 overs but the Agarwal-Axar duo’s consolidation act certainly put the hosts in a position of command. However, India were bowled out for 325 in their first innings on Day 2 of the 2nd Test in Mumbai.
