Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, a middle-order batsman for India, was anticipated to return to the lineup today for the match against Sri Lanka after missing the Pakistan match the day before due to a back spasm. According to a report, it is unlikely to occur because he is not available for selection today.

Regarding his injury’s condition, there is no confirmation. It appears to be a preventative action the team is adopting with the ODI World Cup in mind. Iyer is now being watched remotely by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) managers, and the Colombo-based team management.

In March 2023, Shreyas Iyer played his last match for India in the IND vs AUS series. Later, a back ailment prevented him from participating in IPL 2023. In April, he had surgery in London. He participated in the earlier group stage match against Pakistan, when he scored 14 runs. Later, he was not given the opportunity to bat against Nepal.

During the toss for the previous game against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma disclosed that Shreyas Iyer had a niggle during warm-up. Additionally, he disclosed that KL Rahul had joined the team just five minutes before the game.

Earlier, India hit a massive 356/2, their biggest total against Pakistan in ODIs, after restarting their attack at 4:40 pm on the second day following a weather delay.

Only three of Pakistan’s batters managed to score more than 20 in the chase in response, and the team struggled immensely. India’s fast bowlers put on an incredible display of breakthrough and swing bowling while maintaining perfect line and length.

When Pakistan fell to just 128, Kuldeep came in to perplex the batsmen and pick up 5/25, his second fifer in ODIs, giving India its largest margin of victory over Pakistan in terms of runs (228 runs).
