Birmingham CWG 2022: From PM Modi to Virat Kohli, here’s how celebrities applauded Indian athletes for their stellar performances
The Indian athletes had racked up the medal tally to 61 total medals, out of which 22 are gold, 16 are silver and 23 are bronze.

The Indian athletes have done a stellar job with their performances in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. As the Indian athletes kept the trend going for picking up medals and racking accolades under their names, they garnered a lot of admiration from the country as well.
Many celebrities, sports persons and the Prime minister himself came forward for showering their adoration and support for the athletes who made India swell up with pride. From the poster boy of Indian cricket Virat Kohli to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, here are all the people who came in support for the Indian athletes during their CWG 22 campaign:
Virat Kohli
The former Indian skipper was among the lot of people who came out with in support with admiration for the Indian athletes for their stellar performances throughout this edition of Commonwealth Games.
Dinesh Karthik
Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, also followed the Commonwealth Games for more reasons than one. The star cricketer is married to Indian squash player Deepika Pallikal, and wanted to show his love and support for his partner. Pallikal alongside Saurav Ghosh claimed a bronze medal in the mixed doubles and added to India’s tally.
Virender Sehwag
Virender Sehwag, the Indian Cricket legend, has been actively following the Commonwealth games 2022. He has congratulated all the athletes throughout their campaign via his Twitter. Notably he recently posted and celebrated the win of wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Ravi Dahiya and wrestler Naveen Kumar, who had brought home 3 golds in wrestling for India.
Tapsee Pannu
The Bollywood actor, Tapsee Pannu, hasn’t shied away with her remarks and praise for the Indian team in the Commonwealth games 2022. She closely followed the multi-sport event and had been quite vocal with each win from India. She congratulated each athlete on her twitter. Taapsee came up with a special appreciation tweet towards the Indian badminton team for their commendable performances. .
Sunil Chettri
The Indian football Skipper and veteran, Sunil Chettri, hasn’t been following every match of India but was able to make time for P.V Sindhu’s Badminton final. He praised Sindhu for her phenomenal performance in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
Anil Kapoor
The veteran Bollywood actor, Anil Kapoor, who is not an avid sports fan, found himself in complete admiration for the athletes and their immaculate performance throughout the Campaign of CWG 2022. The Bollywood actor congratulated all the Indian athletes for making the country proud.
Narendra Modi
The prime minister of India, Narendra Modi had also congratulated each athlete separately via Twitter and praised them for their extremely brilliant performance in putting India’s name in the top 4.
The prime minister had congratulated the Indian badminton Phenom, P.V Sindhu, and Indian Table Tennis legend Sharath Kamal, for their brilliant performances and in successfully bringing gold in their respective sports.
The Indian athletes had racked up the medal tally to 61 total medals, out of which 22 are gold, 16 are silver and 23 are bronze. India beat New Zealand for the race of 4th position in the overall medal standings, whereas Australia is leading the Table as usual.

Asian Games 2023: Harmilan Bains wins silver in 800m women’s final, Abhay Singh, Anahat Singh win bronze in squash mixed doubles
Indian Boxer Parveen Hooda won the bronze medal after losing to two time world champion Lin Yu Ting of Chinese Taipei in Women’s boxing 54-57 kg category. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain won her silver medal after losing to China in The Women’s 75 kg boxing final in Hangzhou.

The Indian mixed doubles pair of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh lost their semi final contest against Mohammad Syafiq Bin Mohd Kamal and Aifa Binti Azman of Malaysia and won the bronze medal for India. The pair who had won bronze lead after winning the first game before losing the contest 11-8, 2-11,9-11.
Indian Boxer Parveen Hooda won the bronze medal after losing to two time world champion Lin Yu Ting of Chinese Taipei in Women’s boxing 54-57 kg category. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain won her silver medal after losing to China in the Women’s 75 kg boxing final in Hangzhou. Lovlina was defeated by China’s Li Qian in a 5-0 decision by the judges.
Wrestler Sunil Kumar won bronze medal in the men’s 87 kg greco roman event. Sunil defeated Kyrgystan’s wrestler to win the bronze medal after a 2-1 victory. India’s Harmilan Bains won silver in the final event of women’s 800m in Hangzhou. Bains took the second position registering a time of 2:03.75 seconds.
Harmilan Bains won an Asian Games silver medal in 1500 metre race in Hangzhou on Sunday. She was six months from birth when her mother Madhuri Saxena became an Asian games silver medalist in the year 2002. She was a native of UP’s Hardoi district.
India’s Avinash Sable won silver in the men’s 5000 event in record time of 13:21.09s. Sable showed exceptional performance and won India’s first medal in this event since Asian Games 1982. The team of Subha Venkatesan, Prachi, Aishwarya Mishra and Vithya Ramraj won silver medal in the women’s 4X400m relay event.
The Indian team recorded 3:27:85 and broke the previously held game record. They lost gold to Bahrain by just 0.20 seconds. The Indian team of Muhammad Ajmal, Amoj Jacob, Rajesh Ramesh and Muhammad Anas won Gold in the final of men’s 4X400m event.

Asian Games 2023: Neeraj Chopra wins gold, Kishore Kumar Jena takes silver in Javelin
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the same event at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018.

India’s star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra with his greatest throw wins the gold medal with a tremendous distance of 88.88 metres, while Kishore Jena takes home the silver with a throw that reaches 87.54 metres.
However, due to a technical glitch that occurred during the men’s javelin event at the Asian Games 2023, Chopra’s first throw was not recorded by the organisers.
Neeraj appeared to be in excellent form as he executed a huge throw on his very first try and appeared to have comfortably surpassed the 85-meter barrier. Neeraj was requested to retake the throw when the event management were confused because they were unable to accurately measure the throw owing to a technological issue. Neeraj’s first official try was for 82.38 metres, and he then made an even better attempt for 84.49 metres.
What a five-year cycle it has been for the Indian javelin throw ace since Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the same event at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018. The Indian javelin throwing prodigy is the current Olympic and world champion going into Hangzhou 2023.
The Asian Games have not been without controversy up to this point, as Jyothi Yarraji’s bronze medal in the women’s 110m hurdles event was changed to silver after she was first disqualified.
Meanwhile, Manju Rani and Ram Baboo, two race walkers from India, earned the bronze medal in the 35-kilometer mixed team event on October 4. In the compound archery mixed team competition the following day, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale took home the gold medal. In squash mixed doubles, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh finished their career with a bronze medal. Parveen Hooda, a boxer, finished her career with a bronze medal.
Harmilan Bains of India put on a strong performance to win silver in the women’s 800 m race and earn her second medal of the Asian Games 2023. India has maintained its 4th position by winning 18 gold, 31 silver and 32 bronze medal till now in the Asian Games.

ICC World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli requests family, friends not to ask him for World Cup tickets
The star batter also urged to enjoy the tournament from their homes.

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma has asked that no one contact them regarding tickets for the next World Cup in India, which starts on Thursday, October 5.
In order to avoid any interruptions during the performance, Kohli posted a story on Instagram asking his friends and family to prevent themselves from texting him asking for tickets.
Anushka reposted Kohli’s story and added that she won’t be able to help if the cricketer ignores messages sent to him when the World Cup is going on.

Taking to Instagram Kohli shared a post on his Instagram stories in which he wrote, as they approach the World Cup, he would humbly like to let all his friends know to not request him for tickets at all through the tournament. The star batter also urged to enjoy the tournament from their homes.
Resharing his strory, Anushka added to it that please don’t request her to help if your messages get unanswered. She further continued by saying, thank you for your understanding and added a folded hand emoji.
Meanwhile, Kohli joined the ranks of the UIM E1 World Championship, a brand-new all-electric powerboat series that will begin racing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, next year. As a team owner in the league, Kohli, who is now a member of the Indian side for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, joins players like Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Perez.
The UIM E1 World Championship is the newest addition to the circuit of motorsports contests, which currently include Formula E and off-road Extreme E. The Blue Rising is the name of Kohli’s team.
As one of the top business minds among athletes, Kohli already controls a sizable number of companies. He owns a restaurant franchise, participates in athletics, and co-owns FC Goa of the Indian Super League.
