YouTuber Ajey Nagar, popularly known as CarryMinati, has come under social media attack for his recent video, roasting cricketer Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Minati found himself in hot water after the video of him roasting a cricket star went viral on the internet.
During a special show on Star Sport, Minati roasted RCB batter Kohli for not winning any IPL match so far. He made a request to the former RCB captain to win this IPL trophy.
The 17th season of the IPL kicked off on March 22 with CSK hosting RCB at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK, under new captain Rituraj Gaikwad, won the match by six wickets.
However, the video message from the YouTuber didn’t go down well with a section of netizens who vehemently criticised him for the action. Kohli’s fans started trending Shame on CarryMinati on X (formerly Twitter) in no time.
The highly awaited tournament kicked off with a big clash between the reigning CSK and RCB. On the day of the match, the star-studded IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony took take place at 6.30 p.m. before the cash-rich league officially began.
The IPL 2024 opening ceremony witnessed actors Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, singer Sonu Nigam, and music composer AR Rahman among the notable performers, who performed. The renowned Swedish DJ and record producer DJ Axwell also performed at the opening ceremony.
In addition to their typical Bollywood songs, AR Rahman and Sonu Nigam went on to sing patriotic songs. The entire show, including Akshay and Tiger’s performance, was about 30 minutes long. However, Rahman and Sonu also performed a few Bollywood songs together.
The opening ceremony’s centrepiece was a never-before-seen AR (augmented reality) technology display, in addition to the musical performance.
