IPL 2022: Royal Challengers Bangalore takes dig at third umpire over Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal

Last night’s RCB vs MI match did not only bring bad luck for MI as they lost their fourth consecutive match this season, but it was also unfair to the former captain Virat Kohli. He seemed in a pretty good form and was just two runs away from hitting his first half century this season. Unfortunately, he was reviewed out by the on-field and third umpire both, without actually being out. And today RCB’s official twitter handle gave a befitting reply to the reviewing team.

Reacting to this decision, the franchise took to Twitter and reminded third umpire about the MCC Law of Cricket, which clearly states that if the ball makes contact with the striker’s body and bat simultaneously, this shall be considered as the ball having first touched the bat.” The tweet read, “We were just reading through the MCC Laws of Cricket for LBW decisions, and here’s what we found. Unfortunate that Virat Kohli had to walk back disappointed after a brilliant knock.”

Former skipper was douching a ball when it touched his bat and knee at the same time, however he was instantly declared out by the on-field umpire. Without wasting a second, Virat called for DRS and during the ultra-edge the third umpire seemed a bit confused the reviewed him out. However, it was clear that the bat had touched the bat, hence he should have continued playing.

This not only disappointed Virat Kohli’s and RCB’s fans but also the former skipper was fuming in anger. While going back to the pavilion he hi bat to the ground and yelled. Later in the dough out he even hit a chair and was seen speaking in frustration.

Former cricketer Waseem Jaffer spoke about the controversial dismissal on his YouTube channel and said that it was a wrong decision and Virat Kohli deserved to complete his half century. The RCB fans took to social media and went their anger and grief. Here’s how people reacted to Virat Kohli’s dismissal against MI:

Before his dismissal, Kohli was looking in good form, adding 80 runs with young debutant Anuj Rawat for the second wicket, the team took over an easy win against MI.

IND vs NZ: Do or die for India in the third ODI match, Sanju Samson's place in playing XI still questionable

Team India is all set to play the third One Day Internationals tomorrow at Hagley Oval against New Zealand. Team India is now in a do or die situation as they will not only have to win the decider match but will also have to pray that even a droplet of rain does not fall at Christchurch tomorrow in order to equalize 1-1 in the three-match ODI series.

The weather forecast claims that there are 40 percent chances of rain at Christchurch tomorrow and if it happens then there will be nothing more disappointing for the young cricketers of the Indian team. The rain has already played a spoilsport for the youngsters as they got a golden opportunity to prove their mettle in the absence of the senior players.

But the first and third match of the India vs New Zealand T20 series was disturbed by the rain. Later India won the series as they had defeated the host in the second T20 match. And now something same seems to happen in the ODI series.

The first match was won by Black Caps and the second match was cancelled after heavy rain at Napier. And now both the teams are all to seal the third match on a winning note but they’ll only be successful in doing so if rain does not interrupts the match.

On the other hand, out of these five matches Sanju Samson only got to play one match and seems like in order to give Rishabh Pant the priority, Samson may be benched for the 3rd IND vs NZ ODI.

Whereas, the rest of the teams will have to play the qualifying round and the first two placed teams will make it to the main round. In such a situation, teams like South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies can be in trouble.

The Sri Lankan team is currently at the 10th position in the points table of the Cricket World Cup Super League with 67 points. They have four matches to make it to the eight teams. Same way South Africa is at 11th position with 59 points. They will have to win four of their five matches to make it to the super eight. Saba Karim blames NCA for frequent injuries of Indian fast bowlers

Bumrah has been out of the team for a long time due to a back injury. He missed two major tournaments- Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022.

Former India cricketer Saba Karim has questioned the failure of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to monitor the fitness of fast bowlers in India. His argument comes at a time when several fast bowlers, including India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, are recovering from injuries.

For those who don’t know, Bumrah has been out of the team for a long time due to a back injury. He missed two major tournaments due to injury. These include the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2022 and naming several bilateral series amid these big tournaments doesn’t even make it to the cut.

Apart from them, the famous bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Yash Dayal have also joined the list of fast bowlers struggling with injury. Deepak Chahar and Harshal Patel have also made comebacks recently after being sidelined due to injury for a long time. Shardul Thakur was also absent from India’s playing XI against New Zealand on Sunday, which was called off due to rain. Before the match, Shardul was seen warming up but was under the close supervision of a support staff.

Sharing his views on Team India’s fast bowling to a sports website, Saba Karim said that as far as he knows, it is the work of the National Cricket Academy, which sits with the team management and selectors and comes up with a pool of 10-12 fast bowlers. They also shortlist the needs of NCA to guide fast bowlers and to keep an eye on his fitness. He further revealed that its NCA that focuses on the workload management of the bowlers, so that the players are available whenever the team needs them.

But is near past that did not seems to happen. Saba said that it is difficult to say, but India definitely has young fast bowlers, who can bowl well. While Karim admitted that recent injuries have been a cause of concern, he also pointed out that there is no dearth of fast bowling talent in the country and went on to name a few. He said you can count them on your fingre tips as there are just four-five names.

Elaborating further Saba named them and said Kuldeep Sen, selected for Bangladesh tour can bowl at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. There are also Avesh Khan and Shivam Mavi, who play for UP and has seen him clicking on 140 in domestic cricket. Karthik Tyagi had impressed as a net bowler during the tour of Australia. Khaleel Ahmed has also bowled very well in the IPL. But these questions and doubts raised by Saba Karim have raised concerned and has brought to light some facts that have been doing rounds in everyone’s minds as well.
