Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman turns a year older, as the former cricketer will celebrate his 47th birthday on November 1, 2021. Laxman has played some terrific knocks for India in Test cricket, including his career defying 281* run innings on Kolkata’s Eden Gardens against Australia.

Many do not know, but the full name of VVS Laxman is Vengipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman and he is the great grand nephew of India’s second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served between 1962 and 1967.
Laxman in his international career, has played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs, scoring 17 and 6 centuries in respective format. Laxman was good Test player for team India, but he was known for his form against mighty Australia (at that time).

Laxman’s unbeaten 281 run against Australia at the Eden Gardens in MArch 2001 is still one of the greatest knock in Indian cricket history. Even Australian captain Steve Waugh admitted that it was the greatest Test knock he ever witnessed.

“There wasn’t much left to do and he played Shane Warne and every bowler with contempt. That was an innings that was almost super-human, so you had to sort of sit back and admire it, and say ‘well done and you are too good for us today’,” Steve Waugh said in a video posted by cricket.com.au.
